65 and 66 Parisienne Vac Gauge needed and dash tachs also

Hey guys, I am working on a 1965 Catalina Ventura bench 4 spd and saw that the Custom Sport Parisienne in 65 had a very cool Vacuume Gauge in the gauge pod. Curious if any of you would have one to sell. Also interested in 65 or 66 Dash tachometer. Ok with either tach as later in 65 the started puting in the redline and mine is a later build. Shipping would be needed to Minnesota in the US or I do have family from northern ND (langdon ND) that make it to Winnipeg on a regular basis.

I know I just joined the forum, but have been a pontiac fan for some time. I am on the PY forum in the US with the same screen name, thanks for any info or offers.

Hi Brad. Welcome to Canadian Poncho from a bit north of you (Morris, Manitoba, right on the highway to Winnipeg from North Dakota)

I may have a tach available later this year but if you are in a hurry I won't be able to help you.

In the meantime, if you are able to find a cup for the tach, I do have a spare tach head that I could sell.

Thanks for the reply. I do have a tach cup that I got from a guy (Ian) down in Australia that was reproducing them so a tach minus the cup would be great for that part of my search. I will be in Langdon in July (I live in Rochester, MN now)  and could swing up or if you can ship, that would work. I could also have someone stop by next time they go through. Either way works fine for me but would be nice to meet another Pontiac fan and see what I am purchasing at the same time. You can email me at hansenb44 @ hotmail (minus the space and add the .com) or you can PM me.

Any chance you also have the small vacuum gauge also?

Thanks

Brad

No vacuum gauge, sorry.

I'm glad to hear you got one of those cups, that is excellent. I read that they are a beautiful part and he's long sold out of them, not doing any more. Do you know, is that correct?

I'll check in my stuff but I think it's a used one that I have with a new face on it. I know I bought an NOS tach head but I'm not ready to give that one up yet!

I'm pretty easy to find. East from Langdon to I29, up I29 and when you are about half way between the border and Winnipeg, I'm two minutes off the highway. (Don't forget your passport to get in to Canada!) It would be great to have you stop in.

Hey Carl,

Sounds great, I will plan to swing up there in July. We will be up there the end of June, begining of July, i'll send you a msg just before. I don't forget about Pontiac items, so you will hear from me!! Looks like you are less than 2 hrs away.

I actually got the last one from him. I sold him a very nice red 65 steering wheel and as we were discussing things back and for over the last few months, he agreed to sell me the last one that was on his shelf. He has no plans to make anymore of them. They are a very nice piece and am happy to have my hands on one. There were 60 that were produced in total. Some of them did not turn out great (the chrome) but most were perfect. I have one of the perfect ones. I asked if he would make anymore if I fronted the money and he said that the costs have went way up and the guy that does the machine work is no longer able to do the work due to his age. I have also looked into doing them myself a little and may be a future project, but not anytime soon.

If anyone has a vacuum gauge, let me know.

Thanks!!

There is certainly still demand for those cups. You likely read the Performance Years forums for the US model Pontiacs and I see guys looking for them from time to time. So many of the tachs advertised have a cup in tough shape.

By all means, contact me when the time comes. The tach stuff I have is not going anywhere before then.

Yes, looks like about 90 miles to Langdon and at about a third of it is Interstate. Nice drive. I've been there but it's been quite a few years.

welcome to CP. Our sponsor TinMan ( Dave ) would probably have the vac guage as he just started parting a 65 Custom Sport which is the only model that had the guage. He has a massive stock of Pontiac parts that he recently acquired so I'm sure he can help you out with just about anything. He is on vacation at the moment .

Hey, that's right, Dave has a few tachs too in that collection of stuff he bought a little while back.

Sounds good guys. I sent Dave a PM. I am 35 years young and just love these big Pontiacs. Once the one I am working on now is complete, I would like to have another 65 in my garage, so If I end up with duplicates, I am sure that I can find a use for them them at some point in my Pontiac life. I'll still plan to run to see you Carl even if Dave has tach stuff that i can use.
