RE: 1954 GENERAL MOTORS REFRIGERATOR

Great score Ken! That's worth the tank of gas (and 2 good coffees).

What happens when you plug it in?

I should have got lattes as it helps my sensitivity and makes my wrists a lot more limber but I had to stick with black coffee because I never got back until about 1 in the morning. I got to talking with the young fellow who gave it to me and the time kind of got away from me. He's  kind of a throwback (which is delightful to see these days) as he likes and values old stuff and seems to know what he is doing.  He's's workig on restoring a quite nice 1954 VW bug and has had a number of those oddball eurovans and forward control trucks they made early on. He got into old bugs because, as he says, girls find them really cute and want to ride in them more than in the jacked up 4X4's that most guys figure will do it.  Clever lad!

The fridge is a bit rough as it sat out in a barn for many years and got a but rusty underneath where the motor and stuff lives.  The trays wer not with it but he tell me you can get that stuff from fridge restoring hobbiests.  (My god I thought our cult was weird.)

I haven't plugged it in as the cord is really weathered. I might try it when the weather warms up a bit.  I think it would have to have new updated guts put in actually and with new trays and a repaint it would be very retro for somebodies mancave.

I actually have a much nicer Frigidaire (from about 1957 I think) still chuggin away in my dads old house's basement that I should do some thing with before this one. Lots of memories tied up in that one.  Funny what triggers those isn't it?

Here's another option. Saw this on an episode of Salvage Dawgs:

It could also make a unique tool cabinet.

Think 66 Poncho Ken...I wish I was good at Photoshop I'd show you some ideas.

I see the bottom section looking like the back end of the GP...and of course the colour is the cream yellow like yours.
