That's a really nice car!!

It looks identical to my 1981 other than the color and condition. Anyone know if 1980-1986 are the same body, trim etc?? They are getting scarce around here and I'm looking for some trim etc.

Thanks
Randy

Mine has a broken power antenna but both of these seem to have it in the windshield. I wonder why?

Thanks
Randy

I think the only way to get a fender antenna was to order a power antenna Randy. That's the year I started at a GM dealership and that's how I remember it.

I just don't understand the logic behind wanting a power antenna as opposed to the windshield one. I guess as all the power antennas I ever had were on old cars that were problematic!! The windshield one seemed hardly ever got stuck!!

Thanks

Randy

From what I remember about windshield antennas is the reception distance doesn't extend as far as a fender mount.

If you travel the highways the fender mount would get you more stations, and for longer.

The other thing I remember about 80's cars, there were two things damaged almost always on these cars,

one was the springy hood ornament..almost always ripped off,and the other, vandals liked twisting the antennas on cars.

So I guess  if the antenna disappeared out of sight that would save the antenna.

I'd like to know the secret of removing the power antennas from inside the front fender without taking the fender off or the inner fender well.

That is the nicest 2-door 1980 Parisienne I have seen in a long time. 267s were surprisingly good on gas but they had soft cams (i.e. improperly hardened lobes). A 267 can be easily replaced by any other SBC if necessary.

I haven't the time to check right now but I believe the wide lower side moldings were common to 1980, 81, 85 & 86 models. Remember the 1982-84 Parisienne was a Caprice with Impala rear quarters using different moldings, tail lights & grille. The 2-door Parisienne body style didn't make it to 1985, although they reappeared on the Caprice for a time in the mid / late 80s. 1985 they brought back the 1980-81 Pontiac rear quarters with the fender skirts and the 1981 Pontiac rear end.

As I remember, Windshield antennas were very directional too. As you got further from the signal and went around a corner you'd lose the station, only to get it back in the next curve.

Somehow I missed your kind offer. My main dream parts are the interior front vinyl arm rests for a 2 door and the hexagon shaped inserts for the chrome trim bezels on the vinyl top. Also headlight doors etc. are O.K. on mine but I'm keeping an eye open for better stuff. I still haven't figured out what years/models are interchangeable as these B bodys are kind of a forgettable car. Guys here can tell every minor trim difference on the 1960's cars but I haven't found any late model B body experts!! Other than the local gentleman who sold me some fender skirts, he was a self proclaimed expert and told me I was pronouncing Brougham incorrectly, it's BROCKHAM he quietly pointed out!!

Thanks

Randy
