Hello all, I am in possession of a 65 Pontiac Parisienne Convertable and was wondering if maybe someone could help me find the VIN plate. I looked in the common area, where the window meets the dash but no luck. I found the serial number and it is a Canadian made car but would like to know more about it as when I check the engine it is a 3970010. So I also found another number on the block and it is K0820CNR. I looked this up and it says (1970,350,300hp,4brl). So now I am confused, I know that it may not be the original engine but there are so many different websites with info I am not sure if maybe those where American specs. Hence the request for assistance in locating my VIN.
Canadian made 1970 350 300 hp is a one year only casting block and the number does not end in 010. I do not have the number handy but I will post it later. The 1970 350 300 hp also has an 041 last 3 numbers on the cylinder head casting. This is also my favorite small block engine.

Al, are you certain on the CNR is not a 010 casting?? It all adds up to me.
Every 1969-1970, 300 H.P. 350 I have ever seen had 4 bolt mains, but not all 010 blocks were 4 bolt.
I have noticed different casting #'s on 300 H.P., 350's cylinder heads.
Some had double bumps (186)??, while some (041's) ??, had the angled triangle.
Both were approx. 64 cc, 1.94 intake and 1.50 ex. on 300 H.P., with accessory bolt holes.
Both were also available with 2.02 intake, 1.60 ex. with screw in studs, but not on a 300 H.P.
I appreciate the memory jog as I could talk about L48, 300 H.P. 350's all day.
And their little brother, the short lived, early 1969, LM1, 255 H.P., 350, 4 bbl., the NHRA cheater engine!!
Well thanks for the info gents. Like I had mentioned, I took the numbers off my engine and tried to find as much info as possible and now I am finding more. I was a bit disappointed as I had hoped this was the original engine that came with the car but now I'm not sure if I should be grateful that it may be of the four bolt main or sad as it is simply an old two bolt main truck engine. Either way it has plenty of get up n go and does not smoke.
Would anyone be so kind as to suggest a good place to get some parts for this as I am from the East Coast and just moved out here a year ago. Still trying to find my way around and figure out whose who in the zoo.
oh oh yea almost forgot the CNR numbers where from the block.

Also if it was a truck engine it would be four bolt main. I have an 010 block out of a truck and it is four bolt main. Most 010 blocks in cars were 2 bolt main. Four bolt main for the higher horse 010 car engines like the 300 horse or truck engines.

I have a McKinnon 010 casting engine under the bench which came from an Oshawa built car. I've never had the oil pan off but I'm going to take a look at it now..
Randy you absolutley correct with your numbers. The CNR is an 010 block from Mckinnion Industries. I was thinking about the very rare !970- 71 Camaro 350- 300 and 360 hp 0014 Tonawanda block available in both 2 and 4 bolt main bearing caps. I just love the 350- 300 hp engine with the 96-98 vortec truck engine a close second. Too bad the voretc had the intake manifold leak problem.
