I remember back in my drag racing days, cars with the fuel filler behind the plate often sloshed fuel out of the back when launching hard, so most relocated the fuel filler to the trunk. It shouldn't be too hard to fabricate a vent from the top of the tank, perhaps a grommet mounted rollover valve/vent with from a newer car. The vent hose normally runs to a charcoal canister located at the front end of the car.

Thanks
Randy

What about fabricating something like the 56 Chevies, in behind the rear tail light?

That would be cool, but the 56 is in the rear 1/4 panel outside the trunk area so you would have to make a sealed box so fumes dont get into trunk. But as stated , would be a cool mod!

Use a approved sealed cap in the trunk, as on a racing fuel cell.

Make a line coming off a high point of the tank, and just like the 65-70 impala, have it come up through a grommet in the body above the axle, then back down again. Open end on the termination of the loop.

Run the vent line up into the trunk high and make a loop and back down through the floor, no problem then.

If your tank is a 1967 original , or an original design , your tank is vented through a hose which goes up into the right hand inner fender well.  I purchased a non vented gas cap for my tank, mainly because I was losing fuel through a vented cap.

However, I do get periods, weather/temperature dependent,   when fuel  vapors linger in my Garage, so I do like the idea of a Charcoal filtration system.  The reason I haven't proceeded, is because a charcoal system will work under negative pressure from the Engine - carburetor / intake. I am not sure over long periods will the vapor come back through the carburetor ?

I don't know how to proceed either ?

Good Luck

Dale
