Electronic Gremlin in Tach

Have a curious situation on a 67 Camaro RS with electric headlight doors.

I noticed last nite when I pulled headlight switch, doors opened OK and lights work, however, the

tach began to pulse wildly, from proper RPM to a wind to end of dial and back, very erratic.

The doors work on a relay system to open and close, the wiring is older and iffy.

Not an electrical guy so wouldn't mind some any possible causes. Didn't inspect connection on distrib but

assume it is OK, just did tune on car.

Thanks

The first thing I would do is check to make sure the dash is grounded properly. The safest way to do this is make a new ground wire from the dash to the body. I assume this is a factory tach?

Next, as you suggest, check the connection at the tach.
