Pete, i am not trying to be a smart ass but do you mind telling us why you bought an Avanti II, when you have two " real " cars already. It is a car that people either love or hate, like most cars i guess but this look never grew on me. Studebaker made some interesting cars to say the least. This car was obviously made long after Studebaker folded but do you know how many Avanti II's were made during the course of production. Cheers. George.

George, I was org. looking a 63 Chrysler "letter: car but we were too far apart, but then I spotted the Avanti way in the back of storage warehouse!!!  Went back 2 days later when they "dug" it out & drove it, That was it right there. I just got tired of the Catalina after 14 yrs. of having it & too many memories assoc/ with it of past times!!!  I could have "re-done" it again BUT would have had "WAY" more than the car was worth in it & wasn't about to do that!! I didn't add up the total production #;s just checked the 72 & said 105  The 2+2 got a lot of interest at the shows BUT nothing like this car does, + in rides better, has working A/C   & cruise for the long hauls, the Cat didn't have that, guess I'm getting old but I do like those options. Drove the 52 to Lindsay A&W last night & still enjoy that ,it's a hoot to blast through the gears with "both" quads "wide open" !!!!!

That looks super clean Pete, I assume it has Chevrolet power but I am no expert,  I am sure it is no slouch in any case. It has the look of an exotic without the price tag. Guaranteed to attract the wealthy 45 to 55 year old female demographic.

One thing for sure wherever you take it it will draw a crowd.  Good luck with the car.

Very nice!  I've always thought the Avanti was a really COOL car!

The Avanti II has all the cool looks of the original with a drivetrain that's easier to manage and has the benefits of being upgraded as it went along.

You definitely made out well on this one!

I love the Avanti's. A classic Raymond Loewy design. You did well.

What that means is that the Avanti II was a vehicle not built by the original manufacturer STUDEBAKER. Studebaker had folder in the U.S. IN 1964 and with that the original AVANTI stopped being made. The Avanti II was built by out side interests. Canadian production of Studebaker continued until 1966 but that never included the "REAL" Avanti. Cheers. George.

Actually the last Avanti  Studebaker produced was a 1964 model year before Studebaker went out of business in the U.S. in December of 1963

Studebaker carried on making the Lark and other models in Canada until 1966.

Good link for the whole Avanti story....http://www.danjedlicka.com/classic_cars/studebaker_avanti.html

Pete,

Awesome find! I suspect you'll make many new memories with this great car. As for Windows 8.1, you'll get used to it pretty quick and actually like it. Keep in mind it was designed for tablets and touch screen laptops though.

Only the 63 & 64 "Studabakers" as far as I know, the later ones were chevy powered, as mine is!!   Pete
