1973 GTO Ram Air 455 4 speed - Autofest 2014 August 23, 2014

Well here is that car that has all the tongues waging south of the border. Rick built the ram air system from exploded parts diagrams for factory proposed system.

67 GTO, that was his inspiration and favourite GTO of all time.

Thanks for the  reviews  Everybody . Those parking lamps are the same for 1974 gto and 66 Grand Prix. The chrome bezels are the same, the reflector lens are the same shape although the wiring is slightly different. The 66 gp has 2wires and the 74 GTO has 3 .  The clear lens are the same .  I did not know this till I bought both  and found out by accident .  This is my first time  on line . Trying to figure it out. No problem rebuilding a car from ground up but this computer stuff my brain just does not get it.  The grills are hand made of stainless using the orginial surround , and the ram air was hand made completely from pictures.  I combined parts from 70-72 trans am shaker scoop electric's , and 74 gto shaker scoop to get it functional. All foam is cut from local sources. I am in the process of building 2 functional ram air system' s , but it will be awhile before they are done . they are time consuming . So thanks to everybody that has left messages on the site , I love Pontiac's and yes the 67 GTO  is the best. Love that front end .

Rick, 73SC doesn't exaggerate when he says the A-body guys are in a tizzy over your Ram Air system. Have a look under 73-77A-body at Performance Years Forum or at the A-BodySite forum, there are multiple page topics there about people wanting to do what you've done. You do great work, car (and the Ram Air setup) looks fantastic and OEM.

One question - I know you like the 67 GTO, I get that was your inspiration, but was your grille design also influenced by the 1973 "Formula X" prototype LeMans done by Pontiac?

Excellent craftsmanship Rick. I've seen it up close at Norwalk and it looks like a factory piece. Congradulations for being the centerfold in last High Performance Pontiac. A truely deserving Pontiac. Barry

Have we found the feature car for December? I think it's more than worthy.

I don't think it qualifies as a Canadian Poncho, does it?

Unfortunately it's not Canadian built (or sold).

GTO was built only twice Oshawa, 1970 and 1973. In 73 there were 231 Canadian GTO's so a low production run, although this isn't one of them.

I never saw this picture ever. Until  I saw it posted on canadian poncho. I was super surprised that they proposed such a car.  I was totally inspired by the 67 . I was drawing concepts of front ends  from different years , mostly 66,67 and 74 . I realized  the  74 and 73 had a basic  rectangular shape  so I sketched the parking lights in it looked good and it reminded me of the 67. Also being from the same era I thought it would work good. After searching for 74 gto grill I found  the 66 GP parking light looked the same so I bought both and yes they where the same . So I searched 66GP parts and found they do have some replacement parts avaiable.  Using  stainless mesh to replicate the 67 look. And that was it. If I had saw the X picture I would have tried to replicate the front bumper it looks cleaner the black part .  Ps no I have not read anything on the a body site  . Thanks for he info will try to check it out.
