454 BBC for sale

OK,

My brother in law apparently has gotten his hands on not 1 but 2 454 BBC engines. Both come out of trucks so I suspect they will both be 4 bolt mains? One has been run on propane. Both are early 70's vintage. One will be sold, and he's looking for $1000 for it. Let me know if you are interested and I'll provide contact info. He lives about an hour Northwest of Edmonton.

Oh and apparently they both have between 30 and 40 K miles on them.

I suspect potential buyers would want the casting # and date codes from the blocks.  Casting # should be on the block behind the drivers side head.  Date code kind of moves around, but I'd look on the block behind the passenger side head.

Not too many blocks after the "512" stamping were 4 bolts in the '70's. And not all "512" blocks were 4 bolts. It's not to hard to find out just by looking. The holes above the oil filter should be tapped and plugged for an external oil cooler if they are original.

Not really, I have seen a ton of both "289" and "959" blocks in 4 bolt over the years. I think more "959" then anything with 4 bolt GM blocks. AND I have seen probable 3 TWO BOLT "512" blocks!!!! I would guess GM just didn't drill the "512" all for 4 bolt applications.
