I'm going to get a set for my '66 Beaumont convertible. I'm still trying to decide on size. 17x8, or 15x7 with redlines. Unsure of tire size. Anyone have any pics of A bodies with either set up?
that is the look I was going for with these American Racing T71R, these are 15 x 8 and 15 x 7 on my 65 , I bought a new set as soon as the where re released ! They were first introduced in 1970/71 .. with a very short production.
I tend to favour 15" over 17
And would stuff 15x8" in the rear - even if it meant bolting them on deflated, to clear the quarter panel lip.
With 7" wide on the front.
I have a 205/70/15 on a 7" rimi up front. I wanted as skinny , but still 60's era tall for the front. I have a 255/70/15 on the rear 8's in the big picture.. but they rubbed with a load in the car up inside the outer wheel tub... I now have them on a steel black rim,, and running my vintage M/T Raders up front ! that 's the shot in my Avatar..
the T71R are nice wheels , excellent quality....

That is one nice wheel! Wow! Especially since the spokes look somewhat like the Poncho Arrowhead imop.
Not really partial to the gold or black they come in, but I really think painted natural aluminum with the polished highlights would have looked awesome. I could really picture them suiting my 67.
I had my eye on a set of Cragars that were similar, but couldn't find them anywhere up here. Then the 17 x 8 chrome Torque thrust deal came along at a car show.

The black one would look good on any Pontiac imo because it is very much in line with the colourig on a original charcoal insert Rally II wheel with bright trim rings. These Hurst wheels are very very nice.
there were a lot of cool wheels back in the day... I sort of collect em ..LOL ..
I have 4 of these Foresight Ventures DRAG MAG .. and 2 of the Forsight Flags,, love to find a set of the last ones ..INDY 500 SPEED WHEELS ! sucks that most of them are 14" rare to find 15"
A 15x8 should fit on the back of the '66 Beaumont with original rear end. The wheels should be zero offset or 4.5" back spacing. Most 'stock' 8" rims seem to have a 3.5" back spacing which lead to rubbing on the outer fender.
Lots of people are running 8" wheels with 4.5"BS and 275-60-15's on the rear of '66 & '67 A-bodies.
With all the possible rear end, suspension and body mods possible, nothing's for certain, so check before you buy.
I know a few guys who ran 15x10's on the rear with 5.5" BS. They had to grind off a but of the lower shock bracket and sometimes roll the lip of the fender (and sometimes air shocks..) , but they worked.

And this illustrates why a lot of cars came with dog dish caps. On day two of ownership these cool wheels went on the car. Its not like people were driving around with doggies, they all had nice wheels like this. Dog Dish drive me nuts on muscle cars because maybe the build sheet says they were on the car but NOBODY drove them like that.

Here's mine now, low in the back (probably a stock height) 235-60-15 on 7's front, 275-60-15 rear on 8's

I personally like the Hurst wheels in gold/aluminum. But for the complete polished look, these wheels are very nice (as pictured), with the vintage racing look: - on a good friends 1978 Chev. pickup - he handed it down to his first born grandson...who was born on the same day he took delivery of the new 1/2 ton
I picked out the body shop for him 20 years ago...after the previous expensive shop welded new rockers over the old ones. - rust started, after a year...rip off place also charged him big for real GM fenders & bolted on cheap Cross Canada repops.
Treated to a 2nd body & paint job: - NOS front fenders (owner purchased), plus new rockers & cab corners expertly fitted & welded / inspected before filler - vehicle painted in black cherry urethane
Still looks great after all these years...grandson lowered it & added the 17" rims.

my 66 sd cheetah 427 has the 14" hurst dazzler wheels still on it, there polished aluminum and silver not gold, the car is red with a black soft trim top and red lines,
I now have them on a steel black rim,, and running my vintage M/T Raders up front ! that 's the shot in my Avatar..
