New guy with a '48 Streamliner

Hi there,

I've been watching the site for a while now, and just recently bit the bullet and picked up a 1948 Pontiac Streamliner 2 door, with a 239ci straight six. The car is in pretty decent shape, and with minimal work will run. My current plans (although they seem to change daily) is to restore the car as close to original as possible, and use it as a daily driver throughout the summers. I'm going to covert to 12 volt, and redo the engine to try and get it putting out enough power to safely commute to Edmonton (I live in Devon, AB). I had posted an inquiry a week or so ago about the Serial number, but haven't gotten anything back. If anyone has some input, suggestions, ideas, I'm all ears.

Thanks,

Blake.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. If anyone has any parts or pieces that will fit this car, I'm all ears. I'm looking for a radio plate (or complete radio), heater, front grill (might be hard to find....), etc. etc. Anything that will help complete this car to look as original as possible.

Blake, a hardy welcome aboard from Milton, Ontario. That is a real sweet looking ride you have there. I read your other post on whether to keep the 239 flat head or not. Of course keep it and enjoy it. Why have an all too common looking engine bay with a belly button motor. Get that sweet 239 inline flat head tuned up for miles of fun. The streamliner model is such a beautiful looking car and seems to be rare. Continued good luck with her and keep the Pontiac brotherhood posted on further updates on your fine ride. Cheers. George.
