With the covid-19 stay at home order it seemed like a good time to get some outstanding things attended to on the cars. The wagon needed the tach wiring sorted as we just never got there when building it. We finally found the tach to no be working (as we figured would be the case) since we removed an HEI distributor from the car when we purchased it.  We had to do a little re-engineering as we wanted to make the Tach more serviceable allowing it to be removed without having to dismantle the dash next time.

We replaced the original mount screw with a location stud and made a spot for a trim screw to hold in the assembly instead.  We had the original Epoxy encapsulated board replaced with a aftermarket one by an electronics genius we know. I have to button up some more details and wait for a nicer day so we can take it outside so we can run the car and tests and calibrate the tach.

Fingers Crossed!

It's been a while, but I must say it was nice revisiting the entire epic build thread. I love everything about this car.

What an epic save on a large cruise ship size project. My friends were guilty of sending a few of these to the demolition derby that the PNE had. Nice work, love the color, one of my faves, and killer outcome.

I have not been on here much in the last couple years as I have been busy getting my small business going.  I did manage to finally find a pair of 9 passenger wagon steps for the Safari and was able to get them on today.

I thought I would share this little article a friend of our found and sent us.  Mrs. Urban Suburban was thrilled as she won "Best Restored" at this all wagon show.

I don't think there's ever been a wagon I've ever liked as much as this one.

Congrats, not surprising though!

I've been following this build from the beginning, and it's been incredibly inspiring. I also have a 64 Parisienne Safari, which has been in storage (mostly) for the past 25 years. I just recently brought it home again to tinker on over the winter (I'll start a new thread about it) but I thought I'd just say thank you for posting all your progress an updates on this amazing build.

Mike, Allison, What an absolutely epic documentary on your rebuild/restore of this amazing wagon - as a newbie, absolutely incredible to watch the transformation - thanks for the inspiration. What a spectacular car. Wow.

Thanks! Perhaps we will cross paths at a show and can chat some and see your car.

While retiring from running our local cruise night we have been able to get out and about some. Mrs. Urban_Suburban has caught some attention. Mr. Kindig loved her wagon and stopped for a few photos after we declined to sell him the car.

This past July we packed up and headed to Butler PA. for the annual ISWC club meet and show where we attracted some attention. Allison took home People choice "Best 60's Car' and later took second place "Stock". She also found herself and her car in the local Newspaper.

We never built it to chase awards but its nice to be recognized... especially in the USA with a Canadian Pontiac!

You know those things that you say you will get to and then never do? I have made that my goal to get some of those done this year. When we built the wagon our kids were younger (our son is so tall now we would have to fold him to get him back there now) so we never hooked up some of the interior rear controls inside the cargo area for the gate... I always said I would get the splash shields for the inner fenders installed next year, as rechrome the front bumper.

So far I can cross one of those off... Only 6 years later. When we built the car we chromed everything but the front bumper. The one we had wasn't great. By the time we found a good one we wanted to get the car to an upcoming show and said next winter for far too long. I am determined to get the rest done this season and a few on the other cars.

Best to get chroming done while those places that do it are still around. I fear their days are numbered.

This is one of the reason why I started with the bumper.   I have not ready anything directly myself but keep hearing about.  When I spoke to my chrome shop, they said they dont see it ending.  Just more cost related to environmental issues.  They say that the plumbing fixtures, tools, and display type racking is still in demand. They are also seeing the resurgence of the mid century modern furniture style bring more products to them in the home and industrial furniture category too.  It will be interesting to see how it plays out.  Either way I wasnt leaving it to chance and can rest now that its done
