Well, that was E-Zee to find, wasn't it? (lol) I was looking at the chart before you found it and the "EZ" code was the only one that matched your description...
Now you and everyone else knows the stampings general location..
One more question. It has an 8.125" ring gear, does that mean I can or cannot use an 8.2" posi unit? With 8.2" gears obviously...

Correct... Different animal all together.... I would be more apt to suggest finding a complete 12 bolt to exchange... depending on if you wish to keep it #'s and all.. I've only seen 2 10 bolt posi's... One in Labrador that I NEVER snatched and I believe I have a '70 2+2 here in the yard with the other..

I ordered a Yukon Duragrip, 3.73 gears, new seals and bearings including axle seals and bearings, crush sleeve etc. I also ordered a Transgo shift kit.
Everything should be in tomorrow.
New pinion races installed and new pinion just tightened to zero play. Now to set the pinion reload. Need to get an inch lb dial torque wrench to do that.
So the mockup is done, it took me 4 tries to get the correct carrier shims to get the side bearing pre-load and correct spacing. With the original shims, there was no preload. Changed the shims, had the correct pre-load but the backlash was too big. Put bigger shim on left, smaller on right by about .015", but backlash was too tight. moved it left about .007" and I had my backlash.
Next I painted the gears, and thank god I had a good pattern. Confirmation the backlash is correct and pinion shaft shim is correct, so it is time to disassemble again.
Next I put the pinion bearing in, along with the pinion seal. Put teflon compound on the pinion splines, the crush bearing on the shaft and installed the pinion shaft for the last time. Installed the yoke and began the painful process of crushing the sleeve. I could not do this with a 40" breaker bar so I got a torque multiplier. Once I had no play I set the pinion bearing preload. The spec is 25" lbs when new bearings are used, or 15 if using old bearing.
Of course I have replaced every seal and bearing and race in the rear end.
Likely tomorrow I will install the carrier for the last time.
This project is done. My next two projects are installing a Transgo shift kit and replacing both speedo gears in the tranny. I will start the shift kit today.
