Can GM Vintage Vehicle Services provide you with the key codes? Also they should be on the build sheet if you have it. Then a locksmith could cut proper keys.

Easy peazy... If they are not in the booklet, pull the drivers door lock and the glove box lock and PM me both 4 digit numbers... As long as the ign cylinder hasn't been changed, I can have keys cut pronto... not an issue...
You can go to a GM dealership and they can get the codes from GM Vintage Services. You'll need to provide proof of ownership. I did this at Jack Carter (Calgary) 7 or 8 years ago. I showed the parts department the documentation from GM Vintage Services indicating they can provide this service, and came back the next day and they had keys cut for me. I don't remember how much they charged though.
They made me free keys at the dealership in Charlottetown ... the guy was thrilled to cut some vintage keys. I bought the authentic-looking blanks off of eBay cheap.

We can still get key codes from George, there is a charge though, I normally charge $65.00 for that service, the only reason for the high price is to weed out the tire kickers, and they do have to have proof of ownership etc. I would have a very reduced price for members. I stock all the GM keys up to 66 square only and the 67 and up although they are the newer style square and round.
If you can get the numbers off the cylinders and trunk lock or the build sheet then it eliminates the extra charge and then you need someone to find the book to decode the cuts, some old school guys.
Anybody needs help on decoding I still have all my old books.
In the past year both my wife and I lost a set of keys.
We had the War Amps key tag on the keys. http://www.waramps.ca/home.html
My wife's keys were returned about 5 weeks later after she paid GM an enormous amount to get her another key and fob for locking and unlocking.
In the mean time I went to Partsource and had them cut a duplicate of the GM keys for my own set. The only problem with that is when you unlock the car after it has been locked with the key fob the alarm sounds and you have to start the car to silence the alarm.
My keys must have been dropped in the underground parking garage and they were returned within two weeks. Both sets of keys showed up in the span of one week.
