66 Canso Tail light sockets

Hi guys,

Can anyone advise the best quality tail light sockets I can by for my 66 Canso. I've had the tail light housing rechromed years ago, I have recently cleaned up all the wiring and was about to solder up a new set I ordered from HotRods & Classics in BC and they won't even stay in the housings. I have looked into this on Steves Nova Site and had a few opinions but I know that the Acadian used a socket with 2 wires where the Nova used a 1 wire setup.

I've also noticed that most sockets are a white plastic housing but have seen some that were a metal like casing...Kind of interested in these....

I have had issues with the sockets over the years and wiring, looking for a fix....

Can anyone advise which way to go here.

Much appreciated....

Tony

I prefer the metal sockets, sometime you have to tweak/bend the fingers out a bit to hold tight in the hole. If still loose can put a gasket between socket and housing.

Picked a couple up for my 4dr from UAP parts store, can't remember what brand but they had them in stock. Just take taillight housing with you.

I put one of those UAP sourced metal sockets in a Beaumont blinker, decades ago.
- I think I epoxy, it in / PL 9000 construction adhesive would also probably work...repair never failed or came loose

Try Pico products.

In concluding this, I understood that the correct color of the socket would have been black. I sourced AAW (American Auto Wire) who I heard had a good rep. I ordered them, they fit!!!!!!!!!!!
