Thanks Ray, Jeff on the Sloan Museum Committee said he heard of it & would like to have one for the Flint Show. How about bringing your car to the Show.

What he said, there is one on the island, (Vancouver Island that is), guys has all original documents for it. I believe he is the original owner still and drives it
around to most local shows. From the Parksville area.

The last time I drove the LeMans to Woodward I have to say I was pleasantly surprised how well this oddly built Pontiac was received. I had fully expected to be on the receiving end of a lot of criticism with it being powered by the orange Canadian Pontiac engine but that just wasn't the case and now that a credible show will feature the Canadian cars it would be fun to be part of. We have a bit of a show of our own up here in June at that time, my eldest daughter is getting married so it won't be possible for me to bring down the beast this time.
I'm a bit confused by one of the sheets of advertising. The one with Stampede Pontiac makes sense, as they're the ones with the car. The one with Carter's High Torque Centre is the one that I find confusing. Where was that? I don't think it would have been Jack Carter's in Calgary, as they were a Chev-Olds dealership. It states "Across from Eaton's Brentwood". Vancouver area?

Brentwood Mall is on Lougheed Hwy in Burnaby. Carter has a dealership across the street. They also made the "Convict" that year as well

Thanks, I thought Brentwood mall was in Burnaby along the Lougheed Hwy (Willingdon cross street?), but wasn't sure.

I'm guessing the "Convict" was guilty of street racing.
So the Judge has more power than the Jury as the Jury only had the appearance of power. Where were they going with all this merchandising? Were they going to bring out a Grand Prix with hard to pin down camouflage paint called "The Lawyer"? A utility truck called "The Court Officer"?
The Jury was kinda cool with an insurable 350 & a fun 4-speed. Dealer specials after that were things like Dodge Aspens with padded 1/2 vinyl roof covers & Special Edition stripes.
Maurice Carter Chev-Olds in Hamilton did a small run of Caprice SS coupes in 1985. It actually had some stuff done to it to make more power with some choice exhaust upgrades, wheel & tire upgrades and all black paint. Imagine a 1985 big Caprice coupe done in the same year's Monte Carlo SS theme (except for the rubber front end).
In Western New York they did a special 1976 Olds Cutlass Supreme coupe dealer special called the "Rick Azar Special". Rick was a sportscaster for one of the Buffalo news stations and the tie-in to sports was one dealer's angle for a special edition.

Cam, you are always a wealth of all things automotive. You really cracked me up with your first few remarks here and then you get serious with more automotive history. Cheers. George.

I grew up in that area, yes it's on the corner of Lougheed and Willingdon,or "kitty" corner to the old Lougheed Hotel, where front row and beef dips were a trandition, great fashion shows. Back in the day when Eric Frolik and Gene Kiniski and company still wrestled down the road at BCTV I think it was. The 'convict" was the base model, you had the option of top bunk or bottom bunk, and also who you wanted to be......Mommy? Or Daddy, either way, wasn't good.
