Frame questions

Hi all

Can anyone confirm that the frame on a 1953 Pontiac chieftain is the same as a 1953 chev? All the searching I've done seems to bring up the American chieftains which are different it seems than the Canadian built ones. I'm mainly trying to verify the track width. I'm measuring approx. 56" on mine. I'm looking at mustang II conversions. Obviously lots of info and kits for 53 chevs, not a lot for 53 chieftains.....

At first, do you have a US Pontiac? Chieftain doesn't mean is a US one because many make the mistake between the Can. and US by using the Chieftain name. US is not the same as chevy frame, even Can. Pontiac is not the same too, but close.

On Pontiac Canadian frame the front crossmember is not the same, the parkbrake attachment is not the same, side engine mount support are not the same, gas line hole are on the other side, rear brake line are on the other side, muffler braket are on the other side.

I believe the Chieftain was built in Canada thru the 40's till about 1952 ?? Went to high school with a guy who had I believe a 4r 49 Chieftain. Definitely bigger than the Pontiac Silver Streak by a whole lot
