Cleaning interior vinyl

I have the seats out, confuse  and am replacing the parcel shelf and sail panels wink

Interior door and side panels are original parchment vinyl   Seats were re-covered 10 years ago

Like asking about oil, everyone list off what they use...    I have spray 9 and armour all type cleaner(s)

wondering if anyone has a magic bullet to make vinyl nice and squeeky clean....

Ive always used sunlight liquid dish soap and warm water, not hot water, hot water has a tendency to make vinyl turn white, I've also have lightly used SOS pad, people will freak out, sos pad!?!, yup sos pad but control amount of water used and use sos lightly, cleans up any oils grime and mold. I personally don't use armour-all its silicone based.

On the white vinyl on our boat I used the orange hand cleaner Gojo, looks just like new. It has that sandy grit in it that you have to be gentle with. Next door neighbour was cleaning his rv awning yesterday and he was also using hand cleaner with great results. His didn't have the sand in it though. Just want to rinse soon after you put it in.

I agree with Indian on using Sunlight dish soap but the new Mr. Clean scrubber works very good.

For the white vinyl interior in my T/A I use diluted Spray9 and a scrub brush Carl. It seems to do a good job, but make sure you rinse it off well as it will deteriorate the vinyl.

I like arcadian use of those Mr clean scrubbies, wouldnt be as aggressive as sos, yet still contains a bit of bleach to kill mold spores. I'll have to use those next time.

Yes,  those cleaners work well,  for sure avoid anything made by armorall, it is the death of vinyl, silicone based and ends up drying out rubber and vinyl at an accelerated rate.  the theory is that it pulls out the natural oils in the vinyl, then they dry up and crack.  Also armoral is a dust attractor

On a white interior i would use Westley blech-wite tire cleaner(sparingly).  i have had great success with this on convert tops,  just dont soak it on.

The best vinyl and leather dressing i have found is one used at the body shop, non silicone, gel, its a cleaner and a dressing-its called "PRIME" by "Production car care products", about 50 dollars for a 4 liter jug, it will last you a lifetime,  look it up on google, it is the best damn secret out there! period! and you can use it on any interior surface.

Armour-all or any other silicone based products are especially bad on your tires. Tires rubber needs to "sweat" when they get warm, armour-all and It's silicone gets into the pores of the tire, tire can't breathe and you end up with blown out sidewalls, especially if car is at hwy speeds on a bit of a trip, most likely a car show, tire gets hot...POW!! yup, car upside down in the ditch, ol lady yelling at ya and yogi bear running away with your picnic basket

No not really,  just cleans and protects and makes it look like a new car.   It especially works on modern cars vinyl and plastic parts,  try it on a sill plate area on a new car to clean up roadgrime from your shoes, etc,  its awesome.   I dont really like it on tires, because in does not shine,  but for interiors, its the best i have found

I have no idea WHERE you are....somewhere east of the rockies,....no doubt....

ANY quality auto body and paint supply SHOULD stock SEM product....or have access to it.....

Lordco ...here in BC stocks  SEM....

I'll get you some P/N's......

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=sem+super+white&_sop=15

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=sem+super+white&rmvSB=true&_sop=15&_from=R40&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xsem+soap.TRS0&_nkw=sem+soap&_sacat=0

Expect to pay about 20 bucks & tax in Canadia for one rattle can.....

Just buy one first....and try it to see if you like the color......SEM is the Cadillac of plastic and vinyl paint.....

AND.....good prep...is the key to a good job...as you already know....smile
