Convertible Top

I'm very close to ordering a top for my 62 Beaumont convert has anyone ever herd or purchased from these guys CTG (convertible top guys) or know anyone who has and if so how was it.

The package deal they offer seems un-beatable for $299.95 you get a Haartz pinpoint vinyl top with the window, pair of tack strips, hold down cables, pad set, staples, glue and an install manual. They also make a cloth top as well for a little more money.

All reply's will be greatly appreciated thanks.

Jim

I've heard of them but have not used them personally. I purchased mine from Original Parts Group and it was around that price about 6 or so years ago. To me it is a really good top and the guy I use for install was very happy with it. The only part that didn't fit was the convertible well piece so he made one up. My guy charges around 500 for install.

yes we do. We handle the KEE Auto Top  All KEE tops come with a 8 year manufactures warrenty. I believe the best in the business. Our tops are 36 oz Hartz vinyl. A lot of shops won't install a top that they are not familiar with and most likely not give you a warrenty,  Will be in the shop tomorrow and email a cost if I don't forget ?

I want to put a white or parchment top on my 69 . Also when it was done last they didn't line up the windows properly (gaps at the rear). I would like a price and who is best to do this kind of work?

Kamloops . Kelowna or Vancouver

I am sure there is probably someone good up in Kamloops but there are a couple here in Kelowna.  I use Gordon's upholstery for my convertibles here in Kelowna.

Did they align your windows very well ?
Mine suck . I'm told I have to re-do the top, because it's stapled &
Limits the travel of the adjustment .

Are you talking about where the top meets the windows? I had mine aligned really well before the top was on but after the top was installed it lifted everything a little more than what I have window adjustment for so I had to shim down the weatherstripping a little on the top. With Gord he just does the top and he doesn't do any window adjusting that I know of. Does a great job on the tops but you have to make the windows line up.

That's what I'll try to shim the weather strip .
Great idea. Never thought of that.
Thank you Jerel

I don't know if I can cancel it or not but I'm going to call in the morning I think they have a 20 per cent restock policy but I always purchase big ticket items through Pay Pal they have a good buyers protection. If they won't let me cancel it I'll put a dispute claim into Pay Pal

Well I called today about my top that I ordered from Convertible Top Guys but was told it was already on its way told them that's fine, but I have herd horror stories about there top and service since I made the order and if I have any problems with it at all like fitting proper they will be getting it back and I will be demanding a full refund.
But if I don't have any problems with it I will be bragging it and them up big time so we will see how it goes.

Wish me luck

Well it looks like I don't get the top after all I got an email today from Convertible Top Guys they said the top hadn't left the factory yet so they cancelled my order and are issuing me a full refund now this really makes me wonder if there tops are garbage. But at least I don't have to go through the future head ach if they were garbage like I have been hearing from other people.

Got to love PayPal purchases CTG said they refunded my payment for the top when they cancelled my order but when I checked my PayPal account there was no refund showing, so I opened a dispute towards them with in an hour they paid (Love PayPal a buyers protector).

A few guys try it and have success but some of the ones I've seen I knew pretty quick it wasn't a professional who did it or if they were they were pretty lousy.  Trouble is if you try and you end up screwing up, what do you do, buy another one and try again.  I'd rather go to work and earn the $500 and have a real nice fitting top but on the other hand as I get older and have more time and less money I would be tempted to try one.

My new top from NOS should be shipping soon. When I was young I remember my Father doing one on his 56 caddy. Lots of patience and an extra set of hands should be ok. Me and the missus will be doing ours this winter.
