I have a pontiac 400 0200020 XC under the timing chain cover and 500557 numbers on the block ,would like to find out what exactly it is , I was told it was a ram-air engine, of H.O any help would be great , thank you also 75 is stamped on it by the distrubetor.

From what I see, it is a 1975 400 block. I'm afraid there is nothing ram air about it though. Just a regular 2 bolt main 400.

XC  could have been a great code to find ,  but the block casting of 500557 ,makes it a late 400...  sorry..  just as Carl said.. nothing special.

Find a 302 SBC and use that, pure Canadian Poncho then.

It is special because it is a Pontiac 400. It just isn't an extra-special 400 though. wink
