Very Rare sighting at Wasaga Beach ON

A young woman who works with me sent me this photo this afternoon. I can't say I recall ever seeing one of these in person.

Looks like a 1959 Mercury with the rarely seen connie kit on it. I love old land barges like these. I would lose the silly wheels though because they do no justice to this automobile.

Think this 'could be" a Cdn. Monarch ??? Crown on back door trim, can't make out the name plate on frt. fender even after enlarging but looks like "Sceptre"??????

The blue one is shown in a better setting for identifying lines, features etc.
Can't say I've seen it around at our end of the beach - or at recent cruise nites.

Somehow the Canadian only designs ( regardless of brand ) really stand out as being something special.

If I'm not mistaken they had a 383 c.i.d. V8. It wasn't just Chrysler that offered a 383.

I wonder if they offered a 430 Lincoln engine in it?

Very cool car that is practically extinct today.

Back in the 1960s there was a 1961 Monarch Lucerne in my neighborhood. At the time I had no idea what kind of car it was; I remember it had a large gold crown in the center of the grille.

1959........two 383's offered 280 and 322 hp.....the 280 had a 2 bbl and the 322 had a 4 bbl and probably a better cam
and yes they did offer the 430 Lincoln rated at 345 hp with a 4 bbl.......in 1958 Mercury offered the 430 with optional
10.5 comp and 3 deuces in the Monterey and the Parklane.....rated at 400 hp.....now that would have been a fun ride in '58
