64 Beaumont SD bucket seat anchors


Okay so its been many years since I took this apart and my old memory is failing me.

When I replaced the floors, and cross members, I welded the inner seat track brackets back in place but didn't make note of how the outer tracks attached or screwed down. So now, many years later, I think the 2 brackets shown are part of the outer track hold down but not 100% sure.

 

I have 2 brackets ( 1 for each track )? Other clues are that each bracket has scars where it was welded on by 2 spot welds and the thread size is 7/16" NF. They would have been below the floor welded from underneath.

 

 

I don't think they are seat belt anchors as there are other threaded holes that appear and are strategically placed for the belts.

Can anyone supply some guidance as to what these anchors are for and where to locate them?

Yes, they get welded to the underside of floor pan.

Checked again today and I see where the inside seat belt anchor is welded to the new floor support cross member. And judging by the weld it looks like it was done when the new cross member was manufactured. So the 2 brackets shown become surplus parts.

But second part of this is how do the outside bucket seat tracks attach to the floor pan?

Ted, out board tracks bolt direct to the floor, you can see in the pictures the 5/16 thread holes in the pans I posted. Two holes at the back and one in the front. The thread holes are missing in your floor pan pictures

yes those are the holes for the out board tracks to bolt to. You can see in Ted`s picture those holes are not there

Ok, now I get it. I looked at his pictures and your's a few times.

So the back foot has two holes, front foot has one?

I've often wondered why those feet in seat tracks have so many holes with so few of them used but I assume they are made for many different models and use the appropriate holes depending on the model. Some of the full size have a large footprint and just use one or two of four holes in that big foot.

back has two holes but they only use one of them. I will put the extra bolt in rather then sealing up the extra thread hole

Huh. My 64 SD had (according to assorted 'documentation' that came with the car) new floor pans installed some years ago ... and when I was inspecting the car prior to purchase, up on the dealer's lift, I noticed on each side, under the car, a pair of obviously brand-new bolts/nuts at what looks like to be the places shown above, and I thought "must be installation of seat tracks" so that matches what your situation is. (sorry I did not think to snap a photo of where the new bolts/nuts are)
