409 Super Flame Plate- which one?

Which do you like? I thing the red on the black car would be good. The white emblem has gold on it (it is the grill emblem from a 63), it is supposed to print much clearer than you can see in this pic. I've not done a poll before, I'll try that.

I would go red with the 409 more centred like the white one.

was the 409 superflame available on cars with both emblems? If so the red, if not the white. If its a representation of your car, then the one used on the car....

The white is the original grill emblem, the red is what I would call a generic Pontiac emblem, or maybe it was an emblem used on newer Pontiacs at some time. Your reasoning is good for using the white, but the red is more visible. That is basically the "toss up".

I agree with the comment about the red would look better with the 409 more centered. I also thought maybe a bit smaller red emblem, shorter.

80/20 at the moment in favor of red.

I voted red. Although the white one is correct for your car lots of people have no clue it's actually a Pontiac emblem

Thanks for the explain bit more info helps! Means I'll go red too. As an observation making the red arrow the same height as the 409 or vice versa...

Yeah, the red emblem is more instantly recognisable as a Pontiac emblem.

The plate looks pretty cool!

I like your creativity. As a purist I probably should have voted white.
But alas I voted red only because it has more "pop"

Since not many people know what a 409 is and not many people know a Canadian Pontiac in 63 could have a factory 409, and the Pontiac had no 409 external factory markings, I thought this would be a good way to advertise.

Thanks for the input, it was helpful, I will order the red emblem (they are aluminum by the way) with the resize done and the 409 centered. Once I get it, I'll post a photo.

Last minute thought, maybe do a mockup first, you may have already done it

the pontiac symbol bigger to the left and on the right the 409 and superflame.

Just a thought.

I voted white arrowhead ... more classic.

Red one is too new.

I'd rather see this (1964) if you are going with the "newer style" arrowhead:

You could do it without an emblem, it would still look cool IMHO. For people who know Canadian Pontiacs, they may understand it.
People who know US Pontiacs will not get it.
People who know 409's in the US will not get it either.
You/we are all part of a pretty elite group. But we knew that already?

I got the plate, it looks better in person, it was $35 shipping included. If you would like a plate made up, I'd recommend these people, very helpful, made a bunch of changes very quickly too.

Maybe get one with the wife on it, brownie points?
