These pictures are for 66GrandeGuy but I thought the rest of you guys might like to see this if you've never seen one of these. It's from a US model, I don't think our cars ever actually had them.
That is the early version used on big pontiacs and it is the underhood style. There were several variations, the later 60's versions had a low flat lense. Also some were trunk mounted and those ones have a built in mercury switch which is identified by that switch where the power wire enters. The ubderhood version like the one in the picture mounted on an inner fender or the rad support vertical surface opposite the battery, it was controlled by a firewall mounted brake light switch the contacted the hood.
They all have a 17 foot reel that allowed you to bring it out to change a tire etc
Yes, this type is located under the hood. That is why it has the word "TOP" on the lens, so you mount it appropriately.
