Heres the run down....The guy that originally owned this car passed away in an avalanche in 2008...I just purchased the car from his uncle...Both 1/4 panels are rusted on the outer skin about 3" high, the drain holes must have plugged up because there are 3 rust holes in the floorpans and 2 holes in the trunk on the verticle piece nearest the rear seat...this will be an easy patch...as for the floorpans, im not sure if i will patch or replace.
still has original exhaust and appears to be solid. Dash needs paint, dashpad is 100% and steering wheel has no cracks at all...Looks like the clock even works..
One tail light bezel and the chrome trim piece on the trunk are both damaged. I will need to find those. Engine sounds amazing but we dont know whats in it for sure...They are pretty sure its a 327 but untill i pull it and get the serial number and run it, I won't know for sure. Have to change all the gaskets as they have dried out....Im hoping I can clean the white vinyl interior so I dont have to reupholster...It came with a spare drivers and rear seats that are not ripped.
Think I covered it all....Here are some pics. Sorry i don't know how to enlarge them.

Shouldn't have to pull the engine to get the #;s off block on frt. right side where head meets the block at frt. of engine!! Guessing it will be a 327, 250 HP NICE score!!!!

Also, the block casting number will be opposite corner to the stamping, left rear where head meets the block. You will likely need a flashlight for that one.

Thanks everyone. We are really excited. Im pulling the engine next week anyway as I have to replace all the gaskets so I will clean everything up and make it more presentable under the hood. I will post the serial number and hopefully someone can decode it for me
Good stuff! An uncracked CS steering wheel is a plus as the clear portion invariably is always crackled/cracked.
It will be interesting to see what engine it is as someone changed-out the valve covers and air cleaner at some point..

First thing you see when you hop in! Not Bakelite, but the coloured plastic is an early plastic none the less ... the clear sections are acrylic plastic, and crackled/cracked because of UV rays.
As for your tail light chrome and extension, I take it that it is the driver's side. I might have both, if not, one of those pieces. Just a word of warning, usually when the tail lights on these cars get even the slightest whack the lens is cracked. It maybe not show up until you take the tail light apart.
Is your driver's side reverse light lens cracked?
Enjoy!!!

i found replacement tail lights and bezels in Airdrie...they should be here on Monday for pick up...Yes the reverse light lens is blown out but there is a spare in the car. The vinyl is absolutley filthy on the interior. Tried some leather cleaner on it and it never touched it. Not sure what to use without damaging the material. Will be trial and error.

Although my interior is a 63, I got new bucket covers from NOS identical to the original.....might want to consider replacing yours.
Fifty year old vinyl is pretty hard to restore....especially white.
Mine were the same as the 63 American Bonneville, yours are probably the same for 64........63 Grand Prix was not the same.

Congratulations on your '64 CS, posnick. Greaser is right. Trying to restore 50 year old vinyl is virtually impossible. The vinyl is just too brittle. I ordered a complete interior from our sponsor, NOS. They can even supply the piston covers. I am very pleased with the quality and fit. Their service is incomparable. I would definitely recommend that you give Dale a call. Good luck.
Thanks for the feedback back everyone. Pritch, your interior is incredible!. For this summer I just want to get her on the road. Will clean it up and drive it up. There is no damage in the vinyl on my replacement seats so hopefully I can make it look presentable. I will be contacting NOS to order a ragtop and carpeting.
well the other number will clarify everything. just need to get to it. What about the info on the plate from the firewall. Can you decode that Carl? Its frustrating cause everything i search comes up either GM or US pontiac
