You need larger clips, I have used the off the shelf ones from NAPA etc., unless you are getting a parts order from the US. The line gets routed differently, it goes through the x frame tunnel (at least it did on the 62, haven't done the 63 yet) under the A arm on the passenger side, check your assembly manual. Don
So if it gets routed differently.......are the holes for the clips pre-punched?

Are the jobber clips the same as OE?
Jobber clips are not the same as OE, but work. I think the holes are there- can't remember, but will likely be doing the install this weekend.
This is what Show-Cars sell:
The jobber ones usually have rubber on them? Don

Oooh, what a great looking motor! (nice tranny too)
Dave
Its a 63 340HP 409, "numbers correct" you might say. I had it in the 59 El Camino for a while and in the 62 Bel Air for a while, I think it belongs in the 63. It works very good.

No they are too large to fit in the 5/16 and the routing is different. Talking X frame Chevies (assume CDN Pontiacs were the same), the dual exhaust cars had the 3/8 line through the tunnel, the single exhaust was 5/16 and went down the passenger side. They ran it through the x to avoid heat from the exhaust on the passenger side.
Looked at it tonight, I don't see a hole in the front "wall" of the tunnel for the fuel line where it was on my 62. There is the same hole at the back end of the wall, just above the passenger side emergency brake cable hole though. I need a pic of the 63 assembly manual which shows the dual exhaust and the 3/8 fuel line.
I like that 409 song, not sure I ever want dual carbs though.

Got the motor and tranny in, hole in floor for shifter, z bar, linkage, bracket for z bar on frame, exhaust almost installed, will finish that today. Got to get the master cylinder in and bleed the brakes, and finish off the install of the steering column. Left to do is figure out the engine wiring (63 has Painless wiring and was set up for HEI, the 409 has a stock dizzy with Pertronics); install the rad, hook up the cooling system.
I also have the power steering to finish off, the 409 brackets are different for the pump mount.
Left for sometime later is new front and rear springs and redo the stock manual brakes.
By the way MoboMac, the 3/8 fuel lines did fit into the old brackets, I only had to install a couple of new ones due to the different routing.

That 409 was made to fit in the Parisienne! Looking great Don! All you need to find are some Canadian valve covers.

I've had the same thoughts on drilling holes [in the hood for the SD hood scoop], but since this will not be a show car, I'd like to use it if I can. It changes the whole image of the car ...
Same for me with my 56 ... I spent so much time and effort (and $$$ for paint) on my hood and it looks perfect now, that I have been shying away from mounting my SD hood scoop ... but, hey, they are only holes in sheet metal and they can be patched later on if desired .. so as the saying goes "Just Do It" eh?

I'm debating on the scoop, leaning heavily toward an install. But not with the big hole in it, that was a PITA when washing the 62 BelAir.
I installed the 3 piece 3/8 fuel line, no return. I've had this 63 409 in the 59 el camino and the 62 Bel Air, never had any issues (overheating?) that caused me to think I needed a return line.
Todd, when I get it on the road, I'll let you know.
On the valve covers, if I fall into a set without the Bowtie, I'd buy them. The 63 should be chrome, these were chrome, but dinged and a bit rusty, so they got painted when I had the 409 in the other cars.
I'm on vacation this week and have company, so will try to get a bunch more done ASAP.

Theo is 5 1/2, kinda bugged me to let him do something. I was installing the z bar bracket on the frame via drill and tap instead of welding, so he held the light while I drilled and tapped. Then he put the bolts in for the test fit, then for the final fit after adding a bit of paint. Unfortunately, he lives in Ottawa.
When he was 2, he was visiting me, I have a small ride on mower, a 2 stroke outboard, and at the time, the El Camino. None had a cat, just that nice fresh untreated gas smell. About 6 months later at age 2 1/2, he's driving with his mother in Ottawa and an old pickup passed them, smelling of that nice exhaust smell, he pipes up to his mother and says "I smell grandpa". I kinda like him.

I meant to say too, this car is really solid underneath, it has grease and graphite I think. There were no holes in the inner fenders, I don't see any in the floor or braces. The only thing I see was it looks like those body mounts behind the rear tires were replaced at some time, you can see where some work was done there.
The rockers still have all the "dimples etc" on the inside and when you scrape the grease and graphite off anywhere under the floor, the primer is all there and looks original. Nowhere does it have anything that looks like a big blob of bondo. Its a long ways from a show car, the pot metal is pitted, but overall, I've been very happy with my purchase.
Some day, I would like to have a rear bumper, this one has some dents.

Got the MC in and brakes bled, exhaust installed, seat back in, found out you install the panel in front of the inner fender BEFORE the inner fender, have the pie crust on the rears.
Ran into some slowdown on the power steering, had to change to a different alternator mount brackets. Now have an alignment problem for the pulleys on the power steering that I have to sort out, can install the rad after I figure that out. Bought new BLACK heater hoses, carb installed, fuel lines hooked up.
Still have to do the wiring and then can fire it up. Had to move it today, sold the 62 Chev 4 door parts car body and the rotisserie, being picked up tomorrow.
