Hello! I was wondering if anyone could tell me the original price of my car. I have looked everywhere on the internet but with little success . I have a 1961 strato-cheif 4 door sedan with a 261 6cyl and the 2speed powerglide transmission. If anyone could give me an idea of what it sold for back in 61' that would be great thanks.        Ethan

According to "The Catalog of Canadian I.D Numbers" a 1961 Strato Chief four door sedan with a 6 cylinder had a base price of $2865. The powerglide trans (and any other options) would have added to that price.

My uncle Les,  bought a new 1961 dark blue Strato Chief sedan with 6 stick and cloth seats  (basically just a base car)  for $2200.00 cash

He could not close his wallet (I was 12 and had never seen so much cash)
