Rear Axle Info Found

Hi guys,

I had highjacked another topic, but realized it was in a Beaumont category.
So, here is the topic again, in the proper forum.

I finally got around to finding the code on the axle tube of my T400 rearend.

Can one of you guys translate for me ? I expect pretty docile highway gears in there.

EA 091 9K

This explains a lot why my 396 has so little get-up-and-go, but cruises easily all day long.

I might look into changing those gears.

Anyone got a suggestion of a reasonable change to give it a little more umphh, but still cruiseable ?

Regards, Scott (LandShark ...)

Your some what limited to what you can use on your series 2 carrier. 2.56 and 2.73 . You could use the 3.08 and larger but would need a spacer behind the ring gear to make it work. since you will be taking it apart any way might be your chance to covert to a possi series 3 carrier. Then you can go 3.08 to 3.73 ratio with out a spacer. Just a thought.
