1969 Pontiac Laurentian (Yes, This is Todd's Old Car)

1969 Pontiac Laurentian in good condition looking for a new home. My wife and I bought this car from Todd about 4 years ago and she has driven it on a regular basis from May to October since we have had it. The rear quarters are in need of a little work but overall, this is a very sound car. Unfortunately my wife passed away a month ago and I don't have the time nor the money to own & insure a car that I don't drive. I am asking $9500.00. Please contact me at rsharp@yorku.ca or call me at 647-321-7402. This car is presently located in Caledon, Ontario, (just North of Toronto).

So sorry to hear that, let's hope things get better for you in the future!!! I'm sure this carwon't be around here too long!! have you tried KIJIJI?? I've had good luck selling there as long as you don't want to get rich off 1 sale & your car seems reasonable Pete

Imagine  if  95 of us regulars donated 100.00 each to the site

What a nice gift to the Boss

Those 427 emblems are worth a ton

We would have to get a downpayment to the seller

My 69 Laurentian
Permalink Reply Quote

After searching off and on for 20 years for a solid 69 Canadian Pontiac, my search came to an end late last year. This 69 Laurentian showed up for sale on Kijiji. At first I wasn't too interested in it as it was about 2 hours away and I wasn't sure of it's condition (the pics showing the fuzzy seat covers didn't help). The car was listed on Ebay and I almost pulled the trigger on it. It found a new buyer who purchased it on impulse and later determined it wasn't quite what he wanted. I contacted him and made arrangments to see the car. It was much better than I expected! Here's a brief history of the car. The car was sold new to a fellow in Welland, Ont.  The original owner took very good care of the car and handed it over to his son in 1978. He son then had the car stripped to bare metal and repainted. All glass, interior, vinyl top, bumpers, etc were removed prior to paint. The son then splurged on NOS bumpers, lenses, 427 emblems (car is 350 powered) weatherstrips etc which were installed after the car was painted its original colour of Mayfaire Maize (butternut yellow). The intrior is medium green which has taken me a while to get used to! The car went into storage after the restoration and had only been taken out three times between 1978 and 2007 (all in 1987)! Personal reasons forced the sale of the car in early 2007. I am lucky enough to have a number of photos of the car which were taken prior to and during the "restoration" in 1978. I drove the car 50 miles home on the 1979's bias ply tires on Hwy 401 in rain. It was a bit of a white knuckle ride but we made it home safely. I am in the midst of going through the brakes and have replaced the 14" tires and wire wheel hubcaps with reproduction G70-15 Firestone Wide Oval redline tires and 15X7 rally wheels. I have been fortunate to find the correct centercaps used on these cars with these rally wheels.  This tire/wheel combo will surely change the "attitude" of the car! Other plans in the near future include recovering the seats (the original cloth is split) and replacing the carpet. Mechanically I'm going to install a good dual exhaust system and swap the 2bbl setup for an Edelbrock intake and carb. I may also install a set of headers. Future plans? I'd like to improve the handling using some Hotchkis goodies and maybe upgrade to big block power to match those 427 emblems on the fenders! Here's a photo of the car prior to my purchasing it. I will post photos once the new tires/wheels are on.

As Carl said, I'm sorry to hear you lost your wife. I hope you have many great memories to fall back on.

Good luck with your sale, that's a real special car you have there.

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your wife. She was a sweet lady and I know owning the Laurentian was a dream of hers. Did she get a chance to enjoy the car? I truly wish I was in the position to buy it back but unfortunately it's not in the cards. What work does the quarters need? Is it the lacquer paint or something worse? Do you have any recent photos?
Take care Rick.
Todd

We met at a show, believe it was in Orangeville, and enjoyed a pleasant conversation with you and your wife. Our condolences.

Rick, sorry to hear of your wife's passing. I met you and your wife a number of years ago with the 69 at a car show and we spoke. That is a sweet looking 69 and i wish you all the luck in selling it to the right person. Rick, i agree with Pete, Kijiji would be a good no cost way of selling the car. Good luck.

Thank You all so much. I appreciate your kind words.

Todd, Unfortunately we had to repaint the car. I would have left the lacquer but some local kids decided it was a nice big surface for their artwork. They were using keys. It still blows me away that they left the roof alone, go figure. The rear quarters were just starting to bubble when we bought it, I knew that, I could see it, no problem. Now it is actually starting to blister. The car is still in decent condition, basically the way we bought it from you except the rear quarters need some work. The rest of the car is as you sold it to us. Oh, I changed the carb so I could afford to drive it. It now has a four barrel quadrojet carb on it.

Rick
