What a beauty Carl!  I believe the correct term for this car is a "reference car".  Its few and far between to see ANYTHING this original.  

It also makes me happy to know this car was rolling down the streets of my home town PA while I was still there - I probably saw this car many times (as a kid)!

Enjoy that car - the planets have aligned for you and it was obviously meant to be.

Great looking car, Carl...just gives hope there are more sweet Pontiac barn finds out there somewhere.

This was on Calgary Kijiji.Know it says 62-65...but maybe wrong,and a 66 ?

I bought Hankooks. My choices in that size were BFG Radial T/A, Hankook or Coopers. I know I'll step on lots of toes by saying this but I've never been a big fan of the Radial T/A. I know it's been considered the "classic musclecar tire" forever but I don't like the tread style at all. The Cooper tread pattern is not appealing to me at all, and I've bought Hankooks for a couple of vehicles in the last few years and been real happy with them.


Carl,  I am with you 100% - no car of mine will ever see a BFG Radial T/A.....plus in my opinion all Post Sedan's should have a Black Wall Tire.

Carl, what an amazing beauty you got there. I LOVE IT !!!!! I agree with all your plans for the car but it would be a real shame to pull that sweet 283 out of there. As nice as a 427 would be, the 283 is what belongs there. I can not stop looking at all the photos of that sweet 66 of yours. Who would not be envious of that beautiful time machine of yours.  We have many in the registry with that symbol on the tag but there was never a reason put forth... Do we have some concrete backing? Maybe I will take a trip to the wrecker and find 2 of the same years, with and without, cut the liners and inspect... Interesting!

She's a beaut! Another Saskie survivor car... I too would say to leave as close to original with some minor drivability upgrades....

I truly cringe in seeing near perfect survivor cars/trucks hacked and whacked..... 1 car really comes to mind.. (although, it is the owners choice) twocents.gif

 

But, I have to admit and say, it sure is tough these days keeping both you Carls in the proper order in who is buying and selling what these days.... Are you 2 looking for first place in that Flipper Trophy that's going to be handed out at the end of the year? LOLOL winkwinkwink

The Acadian can't really be called "flipping", I had it about 27 years1

The black GP was 5 years and it was sold out of necessity. Some health issues in our household have pretty much reduced me to having a driver, not a project. So yes, I guess it was flipped, but it was that or watch it rot away unfinished.

The white GP is a whole major drama all by itself. Let's just say it turned out to not be what it was supposed to be.

I didn't know you with the Acadian..... As for the others, just having fun.... We're all getting older and thinning the herd of the never get to projects due to health or other wise...... which I have a terrible problem in not doing! For me, in about 10 years time there should be a major Pontiac glut on the Sask market!

I wouldn't actually be swapping engines to beat on this car. I think it would be a shame to drive this car hard, big block or not. I really like the good steady pull of a 427 though. It's a great feeling. I'd be doing it for that reason, as well as the "wow" factor when you look under the hood of a post car and see a 427.

Although I have to say, this 283 is really sweet, one of the smoothest, quietest 283's I've ever owned, and I've had a few.

I am already battling it. I have one option on order and am pondering another. I refuse to do anything other than a simple bolt in option on this car though. I just don't want to be taking it apart and changing stuff on it, as much as it's my natural instinct to do!
