Welcome here Dave. We have lots of 67 fans, you're in good company.

A 350 horse was never available in the full size cars I'm afraid. It came in Chevy II's, Corvettes, Chevelles/Beaumonts but not in the big cars, and was only available with manual transmissions.

I compiled this thread years ago:

http://canadianponcho.activeboard.com/t26305684/engine-nomenclature-engine-decals-canadian-pontiacs-1955-197/

It was built from tons of research from owner's manuals and sales brochures, Its been up for a longtime and very few corrections have ever been needed . I'm showing 300 HP in 67 and 68 as the high point for the 327 in a fullsize car.

Ray, I think that may be true for the US but for Canada full size Pontiacs the big horse 327 in those years would be 275 horse.

Unless I'm wrong...!

Carl, I thought 275 as well but then I looked at the thread I built years ago and I see 300 HP there. Its all Canadian Pontiac. I'll look around for the source. My 1967 Sales Brochure does say 275 HP with single exhausts.

I'll hang on a bit before correcting the engine thread, perhaps 68 was 300?

Ok, I read my thread incorrectly, it shows that the 327 was rated from 210 to 300 HP at various times. It shows that in 67 & 68 the engine was called Astro Flash. On further review the 1965 performance version had 300 HP.

The 67 did indeed top out at 275 HP

The 275 H.P. version was more powerful than the 300 H.P.

Many H.P. ratings were for identification more than actual pecking order.

Thanks
Randy
