Even though it is still too hot in the garage (even with my window A/C on) I continue to see what might need to be done on the Beaumont. And I was looking at the dealer photo of my console ...
Well poop. Sure looks like something is missing, should not see the mechanism, eh?
Is this the part I need (called a console slider)?

May i ask what that little piece of lexan is worth ? We own that pattern and it is running behind me right now in black lol .
If anyone wants to make their own ... pm me .
Yes, it would be VERY easy to make. I don't know if it is made of Lexan though (it is almost a 1/16" thick).

I bought one for my Beaumont a few years ago. It isn't plastic, it's almost like Bakelite. Snapped in two when I tried to pop it on around the shifter. It isn't plastic, so I don't know if heating it first would help.
I ended up cutting one out of a black plastic 3-ring binder. It's a little thinner than ideal, but it's been in there for at least 10 years, does the job and no one but me knows it's not the original part (until now).

Ya, cut to size the "black divider thingy" that is found inside some 3-ring binders ... it would work perfect.
My sliders (I have a couple originals, but unlike Dave's pictured style) are the same "divider thingy" material ... but not Bakelite.

Thanks for the pics, Darryl - the full size console is a bit different than my A-body console, underneath it probably looks like yours, so that is helpful info. I think I have found a source for a new slider that is a bit flexible, so in a week or so I should have it installed (barring unforeseen problems, of course).

OK, so, I finally got a new part, and it is plenty flexible so I do not think there will be any problems installing it, but it has pebble grain on one side -- is this the side that should be up?
Thanks,
Dave

I would install it pebble side down, less friction.
