I think the "Wingnut" is in reference to the guy that would buy it.
Yep, and after paying $212.00 Canadian, shipping is only 45 bucks (Canadian)! What a deal!

I won't tell you what I paid for leather packing seals for my 1950 Johnson 5-horse outboard. They are $8 USD from the old guy who cuts them, but he needs a self-addressed and stamped envelope (a shut-in perhaps?) I cannot give a SSA envelope from a Canadian address so I bought them from a supplier with obscene shipping charges. 4 washers. I will let you know what the shipping is when I get them. If I have the nerve to reveal my obsession.
BTW, I think that $165 USD for a wing nut is insane, but I also would love to see the finished product if it is a correctly restored musclecar where the restorer sweated the details. "Car Nut" is an apt description.

I sold a used wing nut like that a number of years ago on a different forum. The guy was thrilled to pay me 25 bucks for it and I was happy to sell it for that.

Seriously though, a guy came into the parts wanted section (not this site) and offered even more than that (or maybe even more, I kind of forget) for a wing nut. I guess when you have that "perfect" car and lots of money, you just pay whatever you need to pay to get what you want.

I wonder if I started a thread on the most ridiculous purchases we have yet made to feed our various obsessions if anyone would be willing to even talk about them....
Sure would be entertaining for everyone else though.

Do it Ken, I love that idea!
