Yes, welcome. That looks like a very solid car. Some glass, a bumper, and a wash, and you are on the road!

Welcome Marius!!!

Nice car, waiting for dash pictures and more.

If original that would be a 170 H.P. 283 V8, looks to be other than the alternator and electric fuel pump.

You probably already know your Laurentian uses a Chevrolet chassis, Engine etc.

Totally different from an American Pontiac.

I'm very interested in South African vehicles.

Thanks
Randy

hey look, the steering wheel is on the correct side! Big hello from brisbane australia!

give this lot a try. They are located brisbane austrlia and might ship to south africa. The car probably originated in australia. What does the ID plate say? GMH export?

You're are correct, it's on the right side, but it's not on the correct side!

Hi Marius, if you go onto www.trademe.co.nz auction# 1149992166 you will find a rear vista screen from a 59. You would have to check if they are still the same as 61. This guy brings in cars and parts from the States so he may be able to help with other parts you need. Gayne.

A hardy welcome aboard from Milton, Ontario, Canada. Sweet looking 61 and you must know by now that that is a Oshawa, Ontario, Canada built automobile. Marius, do you know what motor was in the car originally, my bet  is that it was a 261 inline six but that Chevy small Block V-8 will do just fine. Marius, continued good luck with your Poncho time machine. Cheers mate. George

Hi George,

Thank you for the welcome,

I appreciate all the info,no i don't know what the original fitted motor was.Was V8's factory fitted as well, or was it only the 261 inline 6 ?
Some say that the Laurentain was also assembled in Australia.

Welcome to CP. Looks like you've got a nice solid 61 there! Don't know much about this model but by the look of that fan shroud I would say factory V8 as the six would be closer to the rad. Just guessing but one of the fellow members will know for sure.

That should be a factory V8 car as only the V8 cars had the badge on the front 1/4's. That is of course unless someone went through the trouble to swap in the V8 and put the badges on. Those badges are a little harder to come by as they were only used in 61 and only on Canadian model V8 cars.

Also, I do have the rear glass that you are looking for, but I can't imagine it would be cheap to get it to you. If you can't find it closer and are interested let me know and we can look into it.

Adam

Hi everyone,

Anybody know if the front and back windshields of a Chevy Biscayne 1961 and the Pontiac Laurentain 1961 will be the same.

Kind Regards
