I almost bought this less than 25000 miles, nice original and beautiful Ascot silver with black interior 1974 Formula Firebird 350 / 350 auto Survivor car
until I noticed the cowl tag was gone ??? I can't buy this car without it ?
Why is it
So hard to find my car !
you are looking for your old car? is the VIN tag gone too?
Get it documented and if it all looks good on the docs, buy it anyway, then get a repro cowl tag.
x2. If the VIN tag is there, you can get a reproduction cowl tag by providing them the GM Canada documentation. The reproduction companies won't participate in a fraud, but will make you something with proper documentation.
Thanks guys ! I didn't know one can get a cowl tag reproduced. Without a cowl tag it affects the value of the car. The VIN on the dash is still intact :) I know how hard it is to find an old Firebird/TA/GTO survivor, this chance will probably never come again, I bet this car will be sold by now ...
If it isn't, offer the guy a very reduced price because of the lack of tag.

I bought it this am so I'm the 3rd owner, I got it for a great price under market value ! Time to enjoy my new old sorta muscle car ! I got the original wheels as well, too bad he left them outside for years :( Could these be original tires dealer installed ??? I will have to find a driver side grille insert, it has broken fins ...

That is a nice car and it should clean up very well. As for the Uniroyal tires on the Rally II wheels, they look like they are original. See if they are FR70-14 size or perhaps even FR78-14. 15s were also available when the upgraded suspension was ordered (Y99?) Radial tuned Suspension was new stuff that year. By 1975 all Firebirds went up to 15" as the standard tire size.

Nice survivor car Pascal. Like the hood and the clean lines of the Formula. They have repop tires if you want to go original for shows but I like the Cragars. Barry
Thanks everyone and Sorry for the late reply as I just got back from the Black Hills SD. I think the original tires would have been white walls and the original rally IIs that came with the car are 15 X 7s. I inspected and lubed the whole car this afternoon and found one little retaining washer on each rear drums so they were never removed since new !!! Proof that the mileage is low and true :) axle ends are still shiny ... brakes are all original Delco Moraine. There is a water leak on the front passenger side (wet carpet after wash) maybe coming from cowl area old sealant ? Interior and trunk floors are solid but a little surface rust under carpet on driver's foot area, now scraped and oiled. Rear frame are solid, I only found a welded repair patch on the bottom of the driver side rear quarter, car was repainted once. Some front end assembly were done half fast so I will have to make it right, some bolts missing, darn body man ! Brand new jack never removed from trunk roof area, the second owner probably didn't even know that is where they store it on the Firebird, he manage to lose the battery and spare tire hold down brackets. The park brake mechanism at the front kick panel is seized from not being used and moisturized, handle broken and gone so I'll have to find one of those too and fuel gauge needle fell so not working. Overall I'm satisfied with my 74 Formula. Car was sold at Park Pontiac in June 1974 on Portage ave, Winnipeg.
Barry, they are Smooth, maybe finned for posi differential ?? As for the tires I'll look for the FR78-15 on them tomorrow, I forgot. This car is equipped with Radial Tuned Suspension, big sway bar in the front and rear sway bar as well :)
Thanks Pascal. I suspect that my drums were changed at some time. Your RTS badge should be on the glove compartment door. 1975 and later went on the dash panel. To bad it's late in the season but it will give you the winter to give it the mechanics touch and be ready for spring.
