Phillip's aussie 65 parisienne convertible build thread.

Hi all. starting my build thread. Will probably be a little all over the shop as i dig up photos. We now have full unlimited broadband so now I have the chance to upload as much as I like at will! Thanks everyone for the great mateship from half way around the world. My build will not be to a purist's or semi purist's taste but hey, we like what we like and I sure do appreciate everyones rides and tastes. So, stay tuned I guess!

Installing the PCV. Wanted to use braided hose so bought a PCV with a dash 6 connection. Had a few fittings and some leftover hose.

bought a koul tool fitting kit a while back when I started the intake and fuel delivery project. Makes the fitting of dash fittings onto the hose a breeze. Put some rag in the intake and vacuum cleaner handy, drill hole and tap. Use the vacuum to clean out swarf. Bit of cutting grease to catch bits. Measure how long the hose needs to be. Wrap some tape around to keep the wires under control. Cut to length with a vacuum attached to suck out junk. Select correct koul tool, fit off and done!

Slick and nicely done. It's fun to follow a guy that knows what he's doing!

Sun tach conversion. Some of us like some old cool school in oir cars. I always liked the sun tachs but they require old style batteries, servicing etc, etc. Hard to do in australia and hard to come by. Picked up a NOS sender unit and a NOS tach in seperate US ebay auction for surprisingly excellent price, the tach box is dated 2/67. Found a supplier in US who manufactures conversion units to suit many styles of old tachos. Emptied the box, put in a base, mounted the new electronics. Made sure the adjuster lined up with the access screw in the lid, connected the associated wiring to the tabs inside the box, mount on firewall, adjust and bingo! Sun tach! Also a pic of my nice temp and oil pressure gauges.

Accellerator and accellerator cable. For us aussies, the accellerator and mechanism presents a bit of a problem. Because we are right hand drive we have a cumbersome mechanical set up with a cross linkage which is attached to the fire wall behind the motor, then brackets and rods to the carb, kickdown rods to the glide. It comes through the hole you can see in the firewall to the back of the pedalAfter many years ends up sloppy and also inherently has a lot of dead weight which has to be moved back and forth. Does not make for good and quick acceleration. Usually use a mid 70s to 80s pedal and cable. Due to the intake setup, needed something different. Looked at a couple of pedals and ended up using a reasonable quality adjustable spoon pedal. The bolt holes lined up with the linkage firewall boltholes and ended up in the perfect spot behind the stock pedal. Behind the pedal is a microswitch on a small adjustable bracket for the T400 kickdown. Used an adaptable cable and all worked out fine! Just need to cut off the tab for a T350 kickdown cable.

hahaha! Its a big block, we have a specially adapted gearbox so the car doesn't run backwards!
