I recall a year or so ago someone on here had a sudden dramatic change in their eyesight and discovered it to be something unrelated to their eyes. However, I can't recall who it was, or the what the cause was determined to be. Does anyone else recall any details of this?

Suddenly my reading vision has taken a nose dive. I don't notice it otherwise for driving, etc but in a matter of a couple of weeks it's been an incredible change, and not in a good way!

Best to get checked to be safe. My reading vision left me quite quickly. I was checked for sugar etc nothing found. Just old age creeping up on me. Now I wear transitions.
I've worn the weakest reading glasses for about 7-8 years now but I have always been able to limp along without them still if I couldn't find them. Not a chance now since about the start of the month.
And yes, I want to get it checked, just to be safe.

My experience, had my right artery replaced, my eye sight is like I was 20 again. The restricted blood flow was causing my eyes to not focus properly.
So how many people out there need glasses, when it could be a blood flow problem.

Carl.... i wish I paid more attention to this link earlier this year .
This is exactly what happened to me this spring . Almost to the letter . all the same symptoms. Turns out my blood was 19.5 , and I'm now diagnosed as Diabetes Type 2. I have a physical every year and get tested . I was clear , and within one year , I'm type 2 . Medication , diet, and 30 lbs weight loss , it's back to normal , but still have to watch what I eat .

Similar here - I had a (frightening!) (thankfully only a few minutes) loss of vision in one eye, rushed to see my MD who, among other things, ordered an ultrasound of my carotid arteries and discovered 99% blockage on the right side - probably dislodged a wee bit of gunk which went through eye blood vessels which caused the vision problem. Whisked me off to the vascular surgeon thence the O.R. for carotid endarterectomy, otherwise I was on my way to having a debilitating stroke.
So I would say, see your MD (not just an eye specialist).

That will be me soon. I used to be able to thread the eye in a needle no problem.

Luckily I didn't have any problem adjusting to transitions. My wife got a pair and couldn't wear them. Made her nauseated. Of course maybe the real reason was she could see me clearer up close!
