I am sorely tempted to get 1965 Beaumont seat upholstery

... even though it is not 1964 (apparently nobody reproduces the 64 Beaumont interior), they are surely different than the Chevelle seat covers that are on the car now ... and I think would make the car stand out even more in a sea of US Chevelles and GTOs ... especially since I noticed (after the car was delivered) a small rip in the driver's seat furious ... and OPGI has them on sale now ... and they are pretty cool ...

(of course I would get black to match the rest of the interior)

What do you think?

Tough call. Your car looks so original, it would take away from that. On the other hand, like you say, it's a pretty cool looking unique seat cover.

What my 64 Sport Deluxe seats SHOULD look like:

What they actually look like (Chevelle):

(they did fix that sagging seat before I bought it)

Clever! Unfortunately I do not have originals to work from ... just the quite new Chevelle seat covers ...

Can you give me more information about those special molded areas? I might have found a place that claims they can make 64 Beaumont seat covers ...

SMS can make them for sure. They get great reviews for their product, not so great reviews for their turnaround time but supposed to be worth it in the end.

I'd look into an upholsterer that can maybe give you an insert that's closest to the '64s. Not much risk, your skins aren't worth much once they're off the seats. Although I really like the 65 interior...

The seats in my 64SD aren't original and aren't a particularly good amateur job. Have never heard of reproduction skins for the 64.

That being said one of my all time favourites is the 65 interior which is reproduced. I often toy with the thought that when the time comes that my car may get 65 seat skins. Compare the picture of the 65s above to a Tempest/LeMans seat and you'll see they are very similar.... just the arrowhead missing. That is probably why they are reproduced.....just leave out 1 stamping.

Go with what you like. We are getting the wagon interior done custom but only a Pontiac guy would really know. We are putting cloth inserts in rather than all vinyl and we didn't like any of the cloth Pontiac used in 64 so we are going to use a nice Chevrolet cloth. We are also putting in Aqua whic was not offered in 64 for Parisienne or bonneville wagons for whatever reason.

You have to live with it so make it look the way you want and enjoy!

Thanks for that detailed photo of the real deal, Kevin! I will send a copy to the upholsterer to see if he can duplicate.

Another belated update ... SMS can make 1964 seat covers but cost is more than I am willing to pay now, my local upholsterer fixed the rip for $30 so you cannot tell it was ever ripped, I am not unhappy with how the Chevelle seat covers look, and since the door panels are Chevelle too (i.e. not Beaumont), I decided I am pleased with how the interior looks, it is not obviously Chevelle (64 seat covers but 65 door panels, and especially with the 4-gauge not-Chevelle dash) so ... no new seat covers for me.

$1075.00 plus about $50.00 to ship

Keep in mind this was for correct 1964 Beaumont Sport Deluxe upholstery, he sent photos of what they have done and their patterns, and it looked to be 100% right on. I can email you more info if you want ...
