Going by memory but 736 would be a Custom, 67 a convert, 9 is the year, 1 is the plant (not sure which plant 1 is, I thought Oshawa was O) and 100980 is the production number, with 100,000 being the starting point.

And if any of this is wrong, someone here will correct me! And yes, I forgot to mention the 736 is V8 as Brian said, 735 would be a 6 cylinder.

I'll take a quick stab at it:

736   Series designation  (Beaumont)

67   body style #, someone will be able to tell if it's a coupe, sedan, etc.

9   model year (1969)

1   assembly plant (Oshawa)

100980    Sequential.    Starting at 100000, yours is an early built car, I'd estimate August 1969.

Paint codes and options are not within the VIN, they're on the cowl tag.
