1967 A51 SD option help

I'm potentially looking at buying a 1967 Beaumont floor shift (Center console) early production .

I have the vin from the potential seller and the car needs lots of work.

Trying to figure if it's worth the build cost.?

7361771100218

this blue now red car is missing it's cowl tag & the owner can't afford the GM option list check.

My questions are :

at what number sequence was the A51 sport option finished (Nov 21/66)??

can it be determined this is an SD car based on the fact it is low enough #'s ?

what is a car like this worth with a 283 or a 327 when fully restored to near original ?

how many A51 sport option 67 Beaumonts were produced before the change over ?

this car has p/s & p/b , how likely is that stock ?

this car could've come with a big block ( no engine) but bb mounts may have been added ?

thx

Brian

I think you would be wise to get the GM documents. It would be worth the expense alone just to know if it's a big block car.

I've attached my A51 GM Doc for reference. I'm unsure exactly how many of these cars were produced before the 738VIN changeover?

Sounds like it may be worth the investment to get the docs from GMVVC.
That's not to suggest that you have to share any positive news in the docs with the seller.

I think you have to phone Vintage Vehicle Services. The number should be on their website.

So your car is an A51 early L34 car. #1902 off the assy. line. It must be very rare as the 73617 cars were only made for about 4 months.

And how many were order with the 396 BB.

Do you also have a green 1967 - 73817 SD, if so , what are the trim , interior differences other than the power bulge hood if any?

I assume your avatar is the 736617 car with the stripe package , is it OE ? instead of the Sport Deluxe emblems on the quarters , or does it have both ?

Yup, The factory stripe kit was added.  736VIN cars did not offer the BB bulge hood as a factory option either.

Does the car you've found have the SD rear trim surrounding the individual "Beaumont" letters? (ie; A51 sport option trim)

Also check the size of the fuel line... 3/8" were standard for factory equipped BB biggrin

Here's my two cents, but best to get the gm vvs to be sure, being an SD will have a little effect on final value, but not as much as you'd like it to, IMO.

at what number sequence was the A51 sport option finished (Nov 21/66)?? Definitely later than your vin.

can it be determined this is an SD car based on the fact it is low enough #'s ? If it has A51 on the cowl tag.

what is a car like this worth with a 283 or a 327 when fully restored to near original ? Any guesses? I'll say $25-35, it's still an sbc car after all, so back to my point about if it's 'only' a 283 car how much does being a real SD add to value? Original motor is gone... A clone custom to BBC SD would be worth more IMO.

how many A51 sport option 67 Beaumonts were produced before the change over ? I don't think anyone knows (but George could do a count on the production), a guess? Maybe 2-300 tops?

this car has p/s & p/b , how likely is that stock ? Likely

this car could've come with a big block ( no engine) but bb mounts may have been added ? If it truly has BB frame mounts I'd venture to guess a decent chance it was a BB originally (so more rare/valuable than a sbc car). There's no need to change the frame mounts when swapping from a sbc to BBC in these cars.

Cool find, keep us up to date!

Here is an en earlier post before most of you joined the site... In it you will find a car I found with docs..... It is a 736 car with the bulge hood, whether or not it is factory but the thread is a good read... (if you have not read it already)

George Papis' (Oct. 1966) 736VIN Cheetah.  ...Of the 29 Cheetahs built in '67, I believe only 7 of them are accounted for today.

Best of luck with your discovery,

Papis' car has the same month/year date as the one I posted for/on the site... Conroy possibly had a few of these shipped at once. His has been talked about before. This one isn't mine... just located it for the site as I knew about it before hand...

Factory D96 stripe cars left off the Sport Deluxe quarter emblems, also D96 was only offered if you had a 396 under the hood.

yes ,

It is an A51 - SD - 283 - 2 spd car
p/s , p/b , gold with black interior and black vinyl top.

It needs a lot of work & sheet metal replacement.

Thinking of doing an LS 5.3 Auto build with it ...

--------------

what is a car like this worth ?

trying to decide if it's worth building stock or modified or parts
