Red stripe tires in 1969

Someone was asking a while back if red stripe tires were available, and indeed they are.  I just documented a car that has:

P91 - Tire G70-15-4 PR HWY - FB - RED STRIPE

It also has rally wheels, so an attractive combination I'm sure!  These are my radial repros, but should give you the rough idea.  The car in question, however, is red.

I've seen many build sheets for Beaumont's with redline tires but not a full size Canadian Pontiac. Is the car you documented a Canadian Pontiac?

Yes, the car in question is a big-block 1969 2+2 convertible.

You couldn't order redlines on 69 big Poncho cars in the US (except the GP) but you could on full size chevies so not surprising that 69 Canadian Ponchos had that option.

There were 14 & 15" redlines for 1968; 14s were a rare 8.25-14 nylon done in 67 - 68 (RPO T35), or several G70-15 options. For 1969 redlines on the big B-bodies were 15" only, so G70-15 (and yes, they carried through into 1970 along with new H70-15).

Interesting, no 70 Pontiac of any kind in the US was available with redlines, 69 was the last year, white letter tires took over their place in the option list.
