65 Beaumont factory tach hook up

I am at the final wiring stage of my project and am having trouble finding a definite answer as to where the lead from the back of the tach goes to. I am certain that the light lead with the ground tab on it provides the ground for the tach as seen in picture. But what I need to know is about the other lead that has the red insulator on back of tach, do I run a wire directly to the coil? and which do I connect it to + or - and does it need to be fused. I would also mention my distributor has a Crane module, not sure if it makes a difference.

I assume that tach only has 2 terminals?

If so, the other terminal is connected to the (-) on the coil. I have seen a fuse used in some applications but I'm not certain it is necessary. I guess it can't hurt though. I could check the factory wiring diagram if nobody who knows for certain chimes in.

And to ensure it is grounded properly I'd be tempted to run a ground wire from one of the mounting screws to a good dash ground.

And the more you read online, the more you will find some guys saying it won't work unless it has points and some guys saying it works fine with electronic....

I am running a Pertronix in a 63 Chev with a factory re-pop dash tach.

Advised by someone on another site to run this to protect against fluctuations

in the signal..........been running for several years now - no problems.
