RE: January 2017 Feature Car

I do love that prewar stuff.  The lines are so graceful. I wonder if the radio works. That would have been a rare option at that time for sure.

Beautiful car, I remember that style heater in the old cars and trucks, never saw one with a defrost though.

The old dash radios were cool. My Dad lost about 30 of them in a fire caused by my brother's welding. Lost an almost completely restored 36 Chevy 5 window too. The radios were custom to the dash, he had a bunch of the old Ford ones and others.

Bet that old Pontiac cruises along nice on the highway.

Beautiful Car, especially being an "8-" car.... And, I am so happy to see that the tag was never removed and the original rivets are still in place....

I remember the first 8- car I found for Fred and the registry... I was extremely excited as I knew they existed, saw Regina stamped on the data tag but had never found one live to see... I just went back to the registry and found the first car that started it all, Regina in the tag, and the others that followed..... Again, beauty and congrats!

Happy New Year and congrats on the feature. Certainly worthy and what a special piece of Canadian automotive history, especially being able to document it so well. This is just cool.

Doug, such a sweet beautiful 38 Poncho you have there. I have always loved these cars of this era, especially the GM ones. You have a superb example and i know of two others in the southern Ontario area that i have seen at car shows. Thank you for keeping her original like she should be. Best of luck with your 38 and cheers. George

This must be one of them George, I spotted this in Thornhill ON. I believe it's a '39 though.

Not to derail(like Doug) But what year did they move the headlights to the fender? I know other makes were 37-38.

The headlights went into the fenders in 1940 and by 1941 they were fully into the fenders.

I believe this should say:

the feature car has a 216 Chevy Overhead Valve Stovebolt 6 Engine instead of the Pontiac Flathead 223

Not

"Instead of the 216 Flathead "Stovebolt 6", Pontiac boasted a 224 cubic inch overhead valve engine"

Thanks
Randy

the gmc plant in regina is still in use i work for the city of regina and we use a large part of it. there is a lot of walkways underneath that plant some older people say there is some stuff under there and they have tried to pump the water away but it fills back up. a friend went down a manhole in there and walked a long ways under there a year ago. as a youth my dad rented space there i remember the lineup of urinals in the bathroom. 25 years ago i purchased a old 32 chev coupe and it was made in regina tag on firewall. to bad our city doesn't talk about the history of that small car plant

Excellent choice, beautiful car and great background story. Being a new member and being welcomed alongside this was an honour showing the high calibre of these Pontiacs and respect they deserve.

Being new to Regina area it was fascinating to learn of this plant and its history. My imagination was going when I was recently inside the plant.

I also believe this is what the hobby is all about, again, beautiful '38 Pontiac Silver Streak !

Beauty. Thanks for sharing.

I'd love to have one of the Pontiac pickups that came out of that factory. It'd be great to even see one as nice as this car.

I met Doug and his Pontiac yesterday. (Nice guy, nice car!) I was mad at myself for not taking a few pics, so I'm happy to find this thread!
