67 parisienne glove box lock removel

The lock on the glove box does not want to open with the key, I have cut open the inside to gain access but can't feel anything to help unlock. Without driving it to locksmith, any advice or tips to open glove box?

Re: Glovebox won't open

Actually, In the past I have been able to reach up under the dash ( between heater and glove box liner) feel along the top of the glove box liner and you can pull the 'hook' of the lock down and open the glove box.

My advice to you is to first off make sure you have a decent cut key... that is not just a copy of the original... I take for granted that the trunk opens fine without having to jiggle the key? You can remove the trunk lock and get the 4-digit code off of it.. (3R56 for example) Then get a proper cut key, which I can do if you were closer!

DON'T cut the glove liner yet until we see if this will work first....

Unfortunately for what Carl suggested, the lock latch isn't a hook but and actual lock resembling a house door lock...

Another question, the key hole in the lock horizontal or vertical? If it is horizontal, the lock is unlocked but these doors require assistance if you want to open... they don't pop open when you push the button... I use my key lots as a pry tool as I am pushing on the lock to open it.... I will get pics if need be..

I have the original key and I've tried everything to open it, In my haste to clean I regret opening up the inside and learned a lesson in patience. Some things are best left for the pros, I will take it to locksmith on my way to get seats re-upholstered. Thanks anyways fellas.

You never answered my question regarding the keyhole lock being vertical or horizon? Not sure a locksmith will help either... I will PM you my cell so we can talk and send some pics back and forth!
