Hi guys. I'm at the stage of the Job where I need to start thinking about this. I have sent the pieces to be re-chromed. Does anyone know the colours used on the grille and tail light bezels ? Have any off you ever restored these pieces ?
I have some extra grilles in really nice shape. If you want to PM me with your email I will send you pics. I don't think they would require anything at all to be installed on a really nice car. I also have some pretty good tail light bezels that I could show you. They have some minor pitting so they might need a little treatment. I hope I'm understanding you correctly. I think you're talking about the plastic grill pieces towards the bottom of the bumper area? Just let me know if you're interested. I'd be willing to sell them. I'm in the lower mainland of British Columbia

Not sure how to attach a pic but this is what the grill looks like. 2 pieces thought and 4 bezels
Tailight bezels in flat silver. On the grille; the top and bottom of the grille fins are silver, there's black on the vertical portions of the grille around the headlight area only - this would be original to the best of my knowledge. Some grilles I've seen photos of have way too much black.
I'd like to hear from a few others who've had low mileage beaumonts as well... Mine hasn't seen much sun since the early 70s, I have the original interior, carpet and weatherstripping still on my car, and only its second paint job. All my chrome and emblem paint is original except for the bumpers.
Thx for the info guys. The car is far from original. I'm really looking to do what is going to look the best and be the least amount of work haha. I'd rather do one colour on the grille if I can. I like the idea of doing it all black. Just not sure how it'll look. Anyone have a picture of a grille done in all black ?
I guess it's personal preference. I used silver and black, but I didn't extend the silver all the way to the front edge relief of the grille like the factory, I left more chrome exposed, but that was my liking. If you google 67 Beaumont, and scroll through images you'll see all three examples, the correct version is done on a red SD convert, the black version is on a maroon clone that sold at auction a few years ago, and then there's everything in between on there. You'll see the difference right away when you look at the images.
Either way you go, you'll have to put in some effort to tape off the chrome, paint the silver (or black), wipe the face of the grille fins off while the pain is still wet. If you're after factory correct, you'll use silver, and the black is only in a few areas and can be brushed in with a modelling brush with a little extra effort.
