I noticed Dale Armstrong's name.

His Chevy II is one of my all time favorite cars...

If I remember the story right, he cut the roof off of it after it was damaged by a transmission explosion.

Harry, many of us Canuks think that Gary Beck was Canadian but he was a yank. I think he married a Canuk at one point in the past. Any one know any updates on Mr. Gary Beck.

The Pepper Mill, I remember that car as a fixture at a Shell station in Dundas, Ontario at the corner of King & Market Streets. I remember that car through most of the 1970s & perhaps into the early 80s. Going back to the 70s the car was painted blue and rolled on Cragar SST drag wheels & Keystones. It looked just like the Potter Archives photo except that it was blue and had some psychedelic mural on the trunk lid (local Kenny Kay creation  perhaps?)  Later in the same spot where that 61 Falcon was often parked, a brown 72 Vega Panel Express (sedan delivery) drag car later was the new toy. At that location in the 1970s I also used to see an immaculate medium red metallic 73 Chevelle SS with a 454 at that service station. Stock right down to the Firestone Wide Ovals.

I'll bet I still have an ancient Auto Trader where that Pepper Mill Falcon was offered for sale. Somewhere...

Today and for the last few decades that service station has belonged to Bruce Eccles, a good friend of an older brother of one of my best friends. I have known Bruce since he was a vanner back in the 1970s.

The Pepper Mill used to usually be parked between where the Toureg & the F150 are in the following Google Maps link:  https://www.google.ca/maps/@43.2675194,-79.9625995,3a,75y,175.26h,72.89t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1su16_UIltz9Z62fNmTnVrxg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

Does anyone know or remember Canadian drag racer Henry Sega. Henry owned and ran Performance Installations in Rexdale, Ontario for many years. Henry built and ran a 1968 Dodge Dart hardtop with a Chevrolet big block and a 1980's Ford Thunder Bird with a Chevrolet big block. Both these cars were top notch builds that ran 10 seconds back in the 1980's. He was hands on with everything he built and to perfection. I remember Henry telling me that he loved messing the minds of the Mopar and Ford lovers with his big block Chevy engines in those two above mentioned cars. He was a man who always marched to his own drum. I wonder where he is today because i use to love listening and learning from him.

This photo shows Barrie Poole driving the 69 Mustang. John Elliot drove the teams 68 Mustang in A Stock (automatic). Barrie was the shifter king who gave shifter king Ronnie Sox a run for his money in the thrashing the gears category.

I talked to Barrie Poole on the phone about a month ago.

His Dad, Milton was one of my high school teachers.

Fine family, they even have a corner named after them.

Thanks
Randy

A shameless bump. Any other Canadian drag racers of note that we can pay homage to. Keep in mind this would be from the past, "Golden age of drag racing".

Another Canadian drag racer just came to mind. Peter Fedun from Niagra Falls, Ontario. He ran a performance shop in his area and was notable in the stock classes. Was a true Chevrolet drag racer.

......I'm told George's Ford sold for $185,000 at the Toronto Auction. With a 10% buyers premium and 13% hst (well you

do the math - that's over $225,000) someone wanted it bad.  Anyone know who bought it????

Jim Morrison from NS.

Was hanging out with some buddies in his pit area when he won the NHRA Super Gas event in Quebec with his Opel GT.  Long time ago but I remember it like it was yesterday, despite the beers consumed that weekend...
