66 Sport Deluxe

I have recently acquired a 66 Beaumont and was wondering if people could break down the Vin and firewall badge. I have learned some stuff about the car was hoping somebody could enlighten me more

Vin : 673617005043

Firewall Badge :

73617 2 2 3

body no,  835439

paint, m

trim, 383

a51m20

thanks, Curt

Can post pictures later

6 is 1966

736 is a Custom

17 is 2 door hardtop

O is Oshawa

05043 is the 5043rd one built

Body is just the body sequence number

I don 't know the paint and trim codes off by heart but someone here will. If not, I can look it up later.

A51 is the Sport option (SD) and M20 is the 4 speed.

Top right corner of the firewall (cowl) tag should be a number like X-XX-XX which will help decode the build date.

Welcome here!

Guy I got it from has had it 20years or so bought it from original owner who ordered it 396/4 speed. It's missing the original 12bolt

Dad says if it were a 396 the tag on the cowl would say L34 but GM documentation will inform you correctly, he asked is by chance it was bought on Kalar Road Niagara Falls, Ontario

What size is the fuel line from the tank to the engine? If it's 3/8" it can be 327 or 396. 5/16" is 283.

Also, does it have the original engine mounts on the front crossmember? They are unique to 396, so a picture of them would tell the story too.

Certainly a good indicator it's a factory 396 car then. Not many people would take the time to change those.

Nice find indeed! Where on the island did you find that gem tucked away? ...Aztec bronze 66 396SD / 4 speed! Doesn't get much better than that!

It's a Chevy coupe and behind the trunk lid is an 67 Acadian
