so ive been searching for a 1965 for awhile and can only find two local contenders . just looking for ur guy's take on this and maybe help me come to make the right choice ...
leaning towards this one as its just so original
-1965 custom sport convertible. 90 k original miles . all original car with no rust absolutely mint interior and top. no accidents and one very decent repaint in 1987.
From where I sit (admittedly 6000miles away) it'd be the original car every time. Who knows what got covered up in the resto? The hardtop's priced in US $s too.
agreed lol its a big investment for me so im just making sure i do my due diligence ..... was hoping maybe someone on here might know the cars but i guess its a long shot .... at first i was a lil scared away from the convertible as i felt the price was a lil low for condition it was described in . but after seeing the car and inspecting it closely . it seems to good to be true . had it on a hoist and spent 30 mins with a good light and all just seems as it should be . seems as the 65's i can find for sale that are good original custom sport convertibles are about $10,000 more . am i right or am i way off base when it comes to pricing these days ?
The convertible appears to be the way to go. You'll never lose on such a car. The seats on the hardtop aren't correct and as mentioned before who knows what the restoration has covered?
well it would take me all of 2 seconds to make my choice Rag Top all the way!!!!!

so after meeting the owner today and going over the car again this afternoon . i bought the yellow custom sport convertible .... i really beat him up over his asking price and think i scored a bargain ..... will post an introductory thread once i get it delivered and washed up with some detailed pictures . thanks for all ur imput guys !!!! couldnt be more excited as i learned he has the spats for it aswell :)
Came on this kind of late but have to agree that the rag top was the way to go. The upscale grille, side trim and interior make it a much more desirable car. ( not that there was much wrong with the hdtp, other than the skirts don't match, but the US price translates into mucho Canadian bucks )
As they say at the auctions " well bought "
As a 65 CS owner I'm waiting for all the details...and for it to be at the top of the page.
Have to agree that the convert is the best of the two. I have seen this car advertised before. Seems to me it was about a year ago. Still looks great. Oh yeah, maybe we will get some sun soon so the top can be down.
yes the add that's online is 2 years old . came across the car through my father . the owner states that he lost the password for the email account so he did not get or receive any interest and himself did not care if the car sold or not lol . he forgot that the add was even up, so this seems to have slipped through the cracks a lil .
Glad you picked the ragtop, price seems fair, nice color combo (65-66 bodystyle looks really sharp in cream yellow and the black guts is perfect contrast.
As most people on this site already know Canadian ponchos are great value, they just don't pull the bucks which is great when buying (not so great for selling!). I paid about $8k Canadian for my 2+2 hardtop in similar shape and my friend Tim bought an also similar condition 69 ragtop (both rustfree cars) for a hair under $10k. Think what kind of garbage you get when paying $10-12k for a ragtop Mustang or Camaro etc. These big cars are the way to go, especially if you have a family!
