Just saw this down the street!

I went outside to do some yard work just now. Looked down the street at the neighbour's house and what do I see in the driveway? I've known this car and the owner since 1972 when he bought it brand new! Yes, he still has it, original owner, unrestored body (engine and chassis were just restored in the last couple of years), 400 4 speed... Bought new in a little town about 25 miles from me, dealership is long closed down. He doesn't live here but happened to be in town tonight and it was my good luck to be right place, right time.

What a cool car and story!!!

I encouraged him to NOT restore the body.

I've been trying to buy it since he parked it in the garage in about 1985 when the fuel pump died! No go....

You got to be kidding, no go and all it needs is a fuel pump?

He let it sit from then until about 6-7 years ago. At that point it went to Regina to a guy he knew who did the engine for him and redid suspension etc. I tried to buy it over that 20+ years it sat but he was not interested in selling it.

His wife and I were in the same class in high school and his mother in law taught (or tried to teach!) me music in elementary school.

On a cool side note, his mother in law used to drive to work at the school in a 57 Laurentian convertible....

Cool car.

I wouldn't restore the paint either (I would replace/fix the rear bumper though and get rid of the "cow-catcher" on the front).

I'm a '72 GTO / Le mans fan.  The wheels are mesmerizing. I see the Hurst "H" on the center cap but they almost look like old Kelsey-Hayes Ripplers from around the time that car was new.

That car would have used the side splitters with any of the 3 engines offered (400, 455, 455 H.O.) I wonder if the original owner still has them?

Oh don't worry, I still see the mother in law once in a while too. She and her hubby are customers of our's at work, well into their 80's. The 57 is long gone, sadly. They sold it for $800 long ago.... no
