Force-fed AstroJet

Well, sort of... it's really a 502, and there's no plans for a car, so I'll share it here as a diversion.

Threw this together from a spare block and some eBay turbos ($199 each: at that price you can't afford NOT to be making power). Picked up the wastegates, blowoff/bypass valve, etc, there too. Grabbed a boost controller from Amazon.

Strapped to dyno. Did my tune. Started turning up the wick. Stopped at 1000hp at 1200 lb-ft because (a) that's what I was shooting for and (b) we were running out of fuel pump pressure.

Air temp never got over 100F even at 14psi. I was running 104 octane and only about 24 degrees of timing, so VERY conservative in my mind. The boost controller was a lot of fun and worked as designed, just turn up the wick and watch the power number climb...

I can't figure out why the big black Aeromotive pump could not feed it though. Fuel pressure on the last run dropped to 29, sending my O2 correction to max and (hopefully) saving the engine, but I still don't know why the pump can't keep up. They said they've had much larger engines on that dyno, even EFI ones with higher pressures.

Can a regulator malfunction and bleed off TOO MUCH fuel? It's OK at idle, just not under max load.

Is it for my 2+2? Not really - it's not for anything. Just an experiment to have some fun with a motor I wasn't using!

Are you using a rising rate regulator? Has a line to get boost pressure from airbox which chqnges the fuel reg pressure depending on boost pressure. Have one on mine but it is not boosted. The setup originally came from a supercharged smallblock. I just have it blocked off.

Yes, the regulator was boost-referenced, but it didn't seem to help much!

Turbos are GT45/T3 size.

Yea. You puff on em and they can surely make mega.

Nice experiment to try. Wow!

Now put it in a stealth 1967 Strato post car.
